Any federal worker who thinks this is a good idea needs their head examined. There is no appropriation for these funds. The government has only been funded through March. This email is coming from Musk's directives; and we all know how well the Twitter payouts went. Additionally, the workers would not be able to collect on unemployment as it would be considered a resignation. Just like at Dell, unless they have another job lined up, they shouldn't be voluntarily leaving.

This is for federal government employees. Let me be very honest here. Most true federal employees are older and ready to retire. I worked for 3 different agencies. In those 3 agencies I met 2 actual federally employed workers. The government is run by SI's and contractors. So him telling federal employees back to office is bs. The contractors do not follow all of the mandates they are private companies.

It's not 8 months severance. They are still required to work through the end of September.

Yes, this happpened on my team in 2016. They gave us 10 months to look for new job outside or internal transfer. Basically, we didn't need to come in office and did nothing. My boss told me that I can fly to different state to have a job interview without notice him. In 2016, job market was much better. All of my teammate can find a new job in 3 months.

"required to work through the end of September"

perhaps in theory but not in practice. It's effectively an 8 months severance package since you will be on the payroll but are not expected to badge in.

It's not 8 months severance. They are still required to work through the end of September. It's not a buyout. The way the email is worded is clear - they are trying to threaten FED workers into voluntarily resigning.

Dell is a for profit company, not a tax funded government entity.

Not intentional. Fed generally means Federal Gov.

And did you miss the last sentence should there been confusion?

OP is misleading - this is for Federal Gov workers, NOT Dell Federal

Billionaire donors need to prop up the outdated corporate real estate industry to keep that bubble from bursting . Government is manipulating capitalism to protect their handlers. Now let's all drive to the office to participate in video conference calls 5 days a week.

Is this an actual choice they were given? I've not seen anything yet.
