I want to take a moment to thank you personally for the role you played in Edward Jones’ success. Because of your dedication, our firm is in the strongest financial position in its history. That strength even allowed me to earn a twenty six million dollar bonus this year, which I consider a reflection of all the hard work you and your colleagues poured in. Truly, you should feel proud knowing your efforts helped make that possible.
I understand this transition may be difficult. Some families are worried about how they’ll keep food on the table, and I don’t take that lightly. I take full responsibility for over hiring during the pandemic, which is why we must make these reductions now. But I hope you can see this as a kind of honor: you are leaving not because you failed, but because you succeeded so well that the company can afford to part with even its strongest performers.
While I get to continue leading the firm into its next chapter, you now have the special opportunity to find your next adventure. I truly believe that being chosen to step away at a time of such prosperity is, in its own way, a gift.
With gratitude and optimism,
PP
