Thread regarding Edward Jones layoffs

My thoughts and prayers for you and your family.

@cz she is beloved by the field! But lately I’m noticing that those who work in the field and have loved ones in HO, or anyone in the field who has had to navigate some sort of HO politics, are more wise to the dysfunction and how her bad decisions have affected the firm.

One the one hand I hate the pre-Penny good old boys club thats populated by a nonzero number of bigots and people averse to good change. But on the other hand, throwing our lot in with the BCG and the NYC Wall Street bros like DC is…. Not It. There really were things that made EDJ special and sacrificing them in the name of modernization was a bad call.

That said, I came here fairly recently with a healthy dose of skepticism about allll employers and it’s been interesting to watch EDJ take the mask off. Seems like a lot of people were under the impression this place was Different and I can’t say I’m willing to believe it ever truly was.

On another note; I’m kinda relieved to see I’m not the only one who sees through PP’s fake bull ho---y. I swear I thought I was the minority and abnormal for rolling my eyes at her all the time during her town halls and whatnot. With that said, sadly the field has a completely different perspective of her and treads her like a damn celebrity. I was at an in person field event for over 150 BOAs and the way they were hooting & howling, standing & applauding- it took EVERYTHING I had to not laugh my a-s off at them and go home right then. It’s sickening to watch.

@OP you should be proud to be a parent in a non-co-mie country. Raise your kids right and hopefully they will make 29m a year and be the ones feasting on the tears of the working poor.

That strength even allowed me to earn a twenty six million dollar bonus this year, which I consider a reflection of all the hard work you and your colleagues poured in. Truly, you should feel proud knowing your efforts helped make that possible.

I understand this transition may be difficult. Some families are worried about how they’ll keep food on the table, and I don’t take that lightly. I take full responsibility for over hiring during the pandemic, which is why we must make these reductions now. But I hope you can see this as a kind of honor: you are leaving not because you failed, but because you succeeded so well that the company can afford to part with even its strongest performers.

While I get to continue leading the firm into its next chapter, you now have the special opportunity to find your next adventure. I truly believe that being chosen to step away at a time of such prosperity is, in its own way, a gift.
