Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

DEI hires

I can still remember the various DEI policies that led to hiring meagre employees. We were guided to hire particular groups of people, and bypass talents. Through time, all these DEI hires went on to hold leadership roles. Hence meritocracy took the back seat for at least a decade plus.

Remember that DEI hire, that axed the head off a guy in the fab 12 cafe. I think they nicknamed him batter's up.

American Airlines has a gone down the path of mediocrity with mass hiring Indian H1b for their IT/communication team. Was there a communication/IT issue on the jet side?

H1b is not a merit based system and puts Americans in danger.

It was a sad chapter that Intel went down the reverse discrimination path... But there were so many strategic blunders the DEI debacle may just be a sad footnote in chapter 16 with chapter 20 being the end of the story.

I have a friend who may have kept a folder of information about illegal Intel DEI hiring practices from one group in Oregon. Emails were sent to a hiring team stating that there were x-number of positions open, but they could only hire women and POC. The same emails stated that to keep anyone from noticing, the group also had to interview non-DEI persons, but to reject them regardless of how good they were--exceptions had to be personally approved by the division leads (impossible). There were also PPT slides openly presented in several business update meetings about the DEI hiring progress. This friend knew it was ethically/legally wrong and may have kept copies of all documentation in case they were called into a lawsuit.

The same friend also knows that there are many very talented women and POC who legitimately worked hard to get where they are . It's unfortunate that HR forced DEI is a way that undermined the credibility of women and POC. This friend was reduced to hiring any DEI with a pulse. There is plenty of documented proof waiting for a lawsuit.

TSMC is kicking Intel's backside. I doubt if you walk the aisles there you'll find much diversity. 25-40 year old males.

I agree DEI is the wrong term. The correct term is G-B(Good Old Boys) I watched my group over the course of 15 years fill up with sons and daughters of GLs. I saw embedded Buddy groups brush off Process Improvements by newer PHds who actually knew their sh-t; but because the improvement made a G-B process guy wrong, never implemented. I saw this over and over and over again meanwhile the laziest as--s got promoted into higher levels of management. DEI has absolutely nothing to do with Intel's ride down the drain.

Haifa destroyed Intel. It's one of the least diverse places on Earth. DEI had nothing to do with it, though that BS does inspire K-K types.

@bq If you have been around long enough, you might know what the "IC" in the IC industry stood for. That was way before the H1B flooding.

The real issue is incompetent managers hiring seat warmers.

Isn’t DEI illegal now?

About 50% of engineers at Intel are Indian or Chinese. The more diversity Intel instills into the U.S. sights the worse the company performs.

DEI is now illegal in government agencies which distills to corporate America. If your a DEI hire who doesn’t deliver, I’d hone my skills

Meritocracy is dead at intel. Hiring minorities first, Skills second, Purposely handicapping our ability to perform and it shows. We can't meet the most basic objectives, our great incompetence is on full display. Friction everywhere to do the most basic task. All while we told our most experience to leave and gave them money and incentive to go as we continue to spiral toward destruction.

This is a controlled demolition. Criminally ki-ling a great American Company.

A DEI hire means anyone who is incompetent for the position hired for. That includes a white male like myself who may be hired by a friend or family into the position. It does not always mean LGBTQ or any other genders

I tend to disagree , in our server group I haven’t seen any DEI hire in any critical position:…. Infact I didn’t remember seeing any DEI hire to begin with , current situation at intel is b/c Pat’s strategy didn’t worked ….
