Thread regarding Solventum layoffs

Leaving Solventum

What happened to management doing the right thing and being transparent when potential reorganization was in the mix? After more than a decade, I recently retired only to find out that my position was changing and becoming 2 positions. Had they been transparent, a severance package would have come my way - nope. They stayed silent at my expense. Made me remember it’s only a job - and I cared more than management did. Has this happened to anyone else?

I find it interesting how many of you are saying people should leave. Well, let me tell you, many of us aren't fortunate enough to receive a pension and able to retire at 58. Maybe you should be grateful for what 3M provided and Solventum was nice enough to 'carry over' to the new company. So, I will actually try to enjoy my time with Solventum and be happy - because no one can make us happy except ourselves - we need to make that choice. Or, as some of you have done, leave.

Wait! Hasn't the voluminous and vaunted Destroyer of Buffets put her foot on the scale and motivate the masses to gorge on all of the Corporate Speak from Bryan? She's paid well enough to make a difference.

@1cs Well said sir!!! Wishing you a Happy retirement! Solventum is a sad company and myself and my entire team are checked out and looking to leave. It’s a toxic dumpster fire….Upper management is a complete joke and nobody respects them… Just overpaid clowns in a corporate circus…
I will be working on my golf swing or catching a ball game this summer…

I retired a year ago after 17 years with 3M, and I don’t miss it at all. I was always proud to say I worked for 3M. However, after being placed under a Solventum manager, I was forced out within two weeks. What I experienced during that time was deeply concerning. I went from working with the best team I’ve ever been part of at 3M Healthcare to what felt like the worst environment under Solventum. The contrast was stark and disappointing. I feel for my former coworkers and friends who are still there. I truly wish them the best, though I’m not optimistic about how things will turn out.

I took the package back when the package was still good (carryover from old 3M, Solventum was too lazy to make their own redundancy policy). If there is no package now, take care of your sanity. Pocket the monthly salary, and continue to job hunt without the pressure of being unemployed.

These guys better figure it out quickly. Not sure I know anyone that isn’t currently looking. This place had become a life su-k that is spread too thin with impossible quotas. Everyone waiting to see what changes will happen for Q3. Better add some headcount or people are gone. Not the type of product where employees are easily replaceable. 5 people that walked on that stage have one foot out the door.

@ac I was in the December 2024 round of layoffs. Can confirm that many “legacy” HCBG peeps were cut.

Retired a year ago after 20 years, starting with 3M. I don't miss it one bit. The days of being so proud to say I worked for 3M are long over. My replacement quit within 6 months, and the one who replaced them is already realizing what a mistake this company is.

@ey I agree most of the management here are Putz’s! I’m just enjoying a free paycheck while I interview and work on my golf swing.
This place is a total dumpster fire! My manager is frustrated as well and plays the game. Least he was man enough to admit it to me. Place is filled with actors collecting checks…. When your own customers tell you to leave and the name is horrible that says something…

I know this is disheartening. I spent 15 years at KCI/3M—most recently Solventum—first as the wound vac rep (including running a Vac Van solo), then leading a team. Seven years ago, I moved into MSD sales and was awarded membership in the President’s Inner Circle three times. When last November’s reorg hit, leadership didn’t offer me contingent employment—favoring personal agendas and friendships over experience and results. Solventum’s problems are systemic, starting at the top. And it’s telling that Steve Kubler, an area VP left in November, just before the Patient Transition Support role was eliminated.

@OP don’t let it get to you. Turnover here is at an all time high at the moment.

@OP all the time with that company. And, to be fair, 3M… but Solventum was way worse. Management doesn’t care… and if you’re a former 3Mer they want you out the door. Figure it out before it’s too late.
