Verizon's Stock - 2026 identified as the Top DOGS of the DOW Stock

Verizon DJIA DOGS: Dividends Over Growth Stock!!!

Verizon shares identified amongst the 2025 worst stock performer and the 2026 candidate for the top pick for the Dogs of the Dow investment strategy.

Noting for 2026 Verizon will not have any share price appreciation but plausibly a 6%+ quarterly corporate dividend if sustainable??

Most financial analysts will tell you NOT to invest in the company that you work for and if you do not invest more than 10%.
If anyone has 100% of the 401k invested in VZ stock you are FOOLISH

@an A company is defined by where it makes its money and in the case of Verizon, it's by delivering a utility service. Verizon possesses no equivalent of Bell Labs or Western Electric. It was, is and will continue to be a utility. It is a very mature company and long past the growth stage. Any attempt by it in the past to be anything but (yahoo, aol, bluejeans, etc.) has ended in pitiful failure because it is a utility company. If it had never ventured into such ridiculous, easily foreseeable forays, it would have had ample cash on hand to maintain its network and not be saddled in such massive debt.

Verizon can no more effectively sell other products than an electric company can sell appliances.

@OP VZ stock has almost always been mid 30-40 except for a very short period many years ago when it was 60. Don’t really know what you are expecting. Unless you are one of those guys who has his whole 401k in VZ stock , which there are many people that foolish.

This is fake news. Our pulse surveys tell us our employees love our culture os, customers love our outsourced stores and service, and LinkedIn loves when we humble brag about volunteering and have fashion shows and photoshoots. This is an iconic company revered by all!

@ac Regarding VZ being utility stock. Yes, it currently is. Should it be? No. Accepting it as a something comparable to a bond does not mean investors don't want growth. Verizon has su-ked at growth and done the opposite. And if you recall, leadership force fed us the message "we are not a telecom company, we are a tech company".

Verizon Stock

Limited growth: Verizon is not a high-growth company; revenue and earnings growth tend to be modest.

High debt: Telecom infrastructure is expensive, Verizon carries significant debt, which can pressure the stock if interest rates stay high.

Competitive industry: Intense competition AT&T, T-Mobile can squeeze margins.

Verizon is a utility stock, i.e. an income stock. It's price tracks similar to the way a bond price does. You don't buy it speculating that the price will go up, you buy it to receive regular income payments in the form of dividends. If the market fears that the dividend will decrease or stop then the stock price will drop accordingly.

Too many are confused. Verizon is not a growth stock. Verizon is not a tech company.
Let me repeat that, Verizon is not a tech company,
It doesn't invent tech, it doesn't build tech, it buys tech from others.
It is a utility.
It should be run as a utility,
by people who know how to run a utility.
