Thread regarding Optum layoffs

More layoffs coming next month

This layoffs are part of a plan to move 60% of existing jobs offshore. 1st round was back in March, final round is coming next month. Cheaper for Optum to pay personal in India that employees stateside. They aren't worried about the quality. Anything to reduce cost and improve profits for shareholders!!!

@ac or the Philippines. Any training going on I'd designed and often delivered by those in the Philippines. Optum Learn has been hiring and cleaning house of onshore people since January.

@a4 it is monthly. Just different areas each month. We had a bunch in April in our team and another bunch in July but other areas did May and June

@bg you are full of it, it’s been repeated and put in writing. They are definitely offshoring that much

That automation will be supported by overseas nurses, customer service reps, tech. Look at the math. Optum is expected to have an 11 billion windfall . There revenue is down 7 percent. Sounds like outsourcing will be the go to plan.

@bg in HC we have 70% offshore target. All major multi year projects are going to cognizant in 2026.

@bg In my area of Optum Tech we have a 65% offshore mandate in writing. It’s attached to our goals as managers. Also, 30% must be contractors. This isn’t a lie. Obviously different orgs have different rules but 60-70% offshore mandates are true.

This is a flat out lie. In fact as automation takes place, more of the offshore jobs are being eliminated. Stop spreading lies, and telling everybody in the states that their jobs are being sent overseas when actually the opposite is happening. As automation begins, the overseas jobs, which were the ones that were manually, touching operations, are going away

First it is 70 percent. Second most Americans don’t realize that their personal info has been hijacked overseas. When the company says we employ 400, 000 employees, most think those are Americans. But those who deal with employee benefits know that by the month those employees stateside are being whittle away as the work for those personnel becomes scarce.

Quality has completely gone out the back door at Optum tech this past 2 years. I swear some of the execs dont even care that products are completely down and external customers are pi---d, as long as they talk about AI.

Anyone starting out a career today, you may as well just move to Hyderabad. That is where all these jobs are going.

It's incredibly frustrating to me to be unable to schedule a work meeting during normal American business hours because it's "too late" in India.

@OP Can you site your sources? This seems off cycle as Optum layoffs are typically the first month of the quarter and we just had them in July.

Moving more offshore isn't a good look for a company who had the largest healthcare data breach in US history. Just saying.
