Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

A change in leadership has no bearing on us

Whatever happens in the future, we are still going to be exposed to bad management, overworked, and treated like numbers. There will be layoffs and reorgs. There will be different attrition tactics. Cost-cutting, inflating stock prices, and prioritizing short-term profit are the standard practices now, and they’ll continue until we hit a breaking point.

@ac+1jhghz5bp Exactly, came from a startup, this is pretty easy, even in busy times mostly manageable. Podunk mgmt above a certain level, and no real wage growth. But I can usually do my job in 10 fully attentive hours a week, so yeah.

No matter who leaves, there is LOT of built up fat at director level as well. There are SO MANY incompetent “leaders” who create sacred cows in teams. It’s a shame! In the past Senior managers and directors used to be rotated to different teams to make sure they don’t become too powerful and start to behave like they own you/have power over you.

@ac+1jhghz5bp - Agreed. I like the culture at Truist a heck of a lot more than say Wells Fargo. Nice friendly southern culture. Can be stressful at times but that’s anywhere. Thankful to have my job here. Just need to take a break from the layoff.com lol 😂

Meh, Truist is pretty lax compared to well run orgs. Most groups can't even define real metrics so they're very gameable. It's been nice to just... Relax. The pay is lower but the cognitive load is half what I was under at a Fortune 50 company.

Do OnlyF-ns full time for income. That’s what I did after I left Truist and have never been more fulfilled.
