@OP Can you provide an update? What was the subject and topic of the meeting?
@ah subject? Who was on the invite?
I got a 30 min for my Optum layoff and yeah it lasted 5 min, if that. They read you the script and don't answer questions. I'm not sure why they would block a full hour as the person posted below, maybe to throw people off track.
Got a 1 hour meeting invite once but it was a 5 mins layoffs announcement, so it’s not a short meeting always
@ab happy hour turned out not so happy after all?. sorry about your teammate.
My ex team mate just told me he is being let go. At our hump day happy hour which we have been doing for years. . He was re orged recently and got told in person while he was at his desk that they don't want role xyz instead they need abc who can be in office 5 days a week. The manager barely comes to office, and thought he was being nice giving him a heads up instead of actually trying to find a suitable role. In the mean time he's hiring contractors for the same role!!
Imho, would they let you know so far in advance that you are being laid off?
A lot of the ones I know happened day of and their managers were notified minutes before they were
Not saying that it isn't possible, but hope to give you some comfort that sometimes you just can't see it coming. Just gotta hope for the best and prepare for the worst!
If it has a vague title and for 15 min, it is probably a layoff.
Title of the meeting invite please! How many and is it from HR or your manager? Please I need to know ASAP. Thank you
It's possible. What was the meeting invite title? If it's something along the lines of "business update" it generally means the meeting is about something either layoff or restructing-related. This would check out based on posts others have made on this website based on their experiences. Also, if the meeting is short (15 minutes or so), that's also a tell that it may be a layoff-related meeting.
