@ab been here since the early 90s bell Atlantic mobile. The problem was money. The company made so much money it really wasn't tracked and if you failed 1,2,3 times you throne more money at it.

I was at VZW since 2010 (before the Verizon acquisition, before Lowell, and before DEI). The company did nonsensical reorgs every single year! It was shocking to me because they would put people into positions that they were completely unqualified to fill. And I really mean completely unqualified.
The employees who had been there longer than me acted like it was no big deal. To them it was a normal phenomenon like cold weather in winter.

I can see DEI Directors trying to find the expert to type up a powerpoint so they can report what happened. Only one problem.. the expert has left the build and only Pronouns are left!

My former boss who is incompetent and an inveterate liar but who acts like he’s the most knowledgeable person in the world was transferred into core network design after the layoff. I chuckled at the thought that his tenure started with an outage. It couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy!
