Worst place I’ve ever worked

I’ve worked for a number of media companies but Paramount is, by far, the worst as of late. I’m counting the days until I’m out of this toxic place on 10/31 and thankful that I’m able to retire. For anyone thinking of joining this company- DON’T!

@bt Totally agree with the overbloated & inefficient processes. Our dept too has all these delegation of tasks that can just be done by 1 person. Sometimes I feel it is their need to add more & more processes in order to justify someone's job. Our dept was cut more than half in the June layoffs. What that meant was that we were now doing 2-3 peoples jobs, besides our own. Our so-called leaders went on zooms just to tell everyone that because of the layoffs not to expect rushes and an enormous amount of work to be completed within an inadequate time frame. No one listens. Here comes the work and we are expected to get it done. We are all doing OT which we aren't getting paid for and then we get harassed to get the work done or else we get taken to HR. On top of that, they put these d-mb processes in TO MAKE MORE WORK!!!!! We are all struggling to keep up with the current workflow and now there is more work using another application which needs to get done within 24 hours! And when it can't get done, they don't understand why? I'm sorry, but are they plain D-MB????? On top of that, it seems like work/life balance only exists for leadership and no one else.

@ec Has absolutely nothing to do with the number of jobs held. People leave one job for another for a lot of reasons. Myself for example, I left a great media company in order to make more $$. Loved my boss and the people I worked with. I landed another job with another great company. $$ was good, boss was good, morale was good. The company was more like family. However, they went thru what we are now currently going thru and there were layoffs. Now at Paramount, I have to attest this IS the WORST place I've ever worked at! The WORST bosses who have no clue what they are doing and makes me wonder how they ever got their positions, they do not display any transparency, they will throw you to the wolves the minute they get a chance just to make themselves look good, they will not have your back when things go awry and their leaders will purposely go after you if they see you as a threat or more competent than they are instead of using you as an asset to help make the dept look great. They will run around and play favorites (and think no one else see this).
Good for you if you don't have these issues at Paramount. You are the first person I know who enjoys working here. I hear constant horror stories from so many strangers riding the elevators that make me think, "hmmm... I guess this horrible work environment doesn't exist in just my department?"

@ad Glad your experience here has been great. Work/life balance is great, I agree. But there’s a lot of overhead caused by over bloated and inefficient processes, too many ppl are assigned to tasks that a single person can achieved comfortably, causing confusion and unnecessary delays in delivering features to market. In other words too many chefs in the kitchen, bumping into each other and getting in each other’s way. Making matters worse, many chefs don’t know how to cook. That’s just my department, I can’t speak for others. Also keep in mind you’re talking about times pre DE/SD takeover. I bet many of the positives you’ve alluded to will disappear in the coming days and weeks.

One of the main negatives at paramount has been their tolerance to keep negative (or even positive) people who can’t or don’t want to do their jobs. The hiring process and then options to fire are both highly dysfunctional. Bad hr and bad guidance for rooting out weeds that are obvious to everyone.
