Headquarters moving to LA

https://deadline.com/2025/08/paramount-shifting-corporate-headquarters-to-l-a-skydance-santa-monica-1236481980/

Article seems to insinuate that 1515 will no longer be used.

@2ad Laid off people don't have the choice to hold onto their stock; they liquify Paramount stock in the 401ks at layoff and put that amount into a stable value fund.

@2ad meme stock at the cost of “cost cutting” ?

PSKY is turning into a meme stock with massive upside potential, could reach $50! Think of it like the next AMC or GME, ready to rally. Hold on to your stocks laid of people!

@pg I think there is some confusion with everyone talking about control rooms. Production is NOT leaving the BC. Producers, sound editors, mixers etc is not leaving. The play out portion can be anywhere. That’s leaving and going to the new facility. It’s just cheaper to do so. Skydance NEEDS to save money. That’s the bottom line.

@gm the worker pool is already there. Not only are they there they are non union. The BC will remain with the studios and a limited number of control rooms. The rest of operations will be transferred to Long Island as well automation for most work as part of major cost cutting.

@a8 Exactly. We're in very exciting times. Things are looking up for the CCC on Long Island as a major operations center. All are welcome and there's plenty of room for more.

All I meant was talent pool is bigger than if your business is based on an Island. That is why the FAA moved its facility from LI to Philadelphia. If the company's goal is to save as much money as possible maybe they consider moving all operations to NJ or CT. It's true that cost efficiencies are coming but no one said the cable channels are part of the future. Similar to NBC and Warner Brothers they channels could get spun out or sold off.

Time will tell.

@gm people posting clearly have never been to the ccc. It’s already built out for QC and play out. They can’t get control in there, especially when the bc was already upgraded and they use trucks.

@gm the company does not tell their employees where they sould live, especially if employees live out of NYS. If a business wants to relocate anywhere in the United States, they will and not worry about anybody "difficult" commute. Cost efficiencies are now coming.

Two the last two posters,

There is no way CBS Sports is moving any control room to Long Island. They have multiple control rooms. The expense of connectivity would be ridiculous.

One show going to Long Island to a cable channel I understand that. The issue at the BC we have both Sports, News and Entertainment with multiple control rooms with live switching taking into account local station breaks. It can get complicated and being on site with the production and the other operation teams is extremely helpful during live switching. I am not sure all fully understand how complicated this can become.

In addition, being in NYC draws from a larger talent pool. We have people from PA, NJ, CT and all of NY. LI is isolated and difficult to get to.

@cs If all goes well, everything aside from headquarters will be shifting to the CCC on Long Island. That's why the building was purchased in the first place. It has all the square footage needed for accommodation which is why one of the projects underway is the conversion of a large control room for CBS Sports. Face it, you're in for a long commute.

@cs first of all operations team doesn’t need to be with the studio. MTV aired TRL live everyday out of 1515 and their operations center was on Long Island. PSKY doesn’t need a huge expensive building in Manhattan when most administrative will be in CA. NYC will house the studio and those essential to the studio as well as some finance and marketing teams. NYC will always be a media center so there is always need for a presence

My thoughts.
CBS had the chance to build a new Broadcast Center and missed it. Paramount should never have sold Black Rock. Never understood why you would want to rent when you could own. Moving CTM to 1515 was a giant waste of money, now spending more money to move back to BC.

The BC is outdated, PSKY should build new BC with office/studio and operations team at the 10th ave end of the block. Give redevelopment company the rest of the block and PSKY gets new building for no cost. In the new building combine studio/555/1515/Stamford into one facility. Ops needs to be with studios. Isn't the point of return to work so we can collaborate in person! I would also leave space in the new BC for what remains of the cable channels. Not much mention of those channel in any announcement from new managment. Plenty of vendors that can uplink the Networks if need be.

Thats all i got.

any word on the CBS corporate staff in NYC(like finance, marketing, publicity, research etc - not the news/sports/adsales folks) Will all those roles move to LA?

@ah I don’t know about that. We have no idea what SD plans are. The BCC is old and horrible facility. You could sell that whole city block for a lot of money and get better and more modern space somewhere else.

@ae I literally said all the studios will remain at the broadcast center in NY. They are not leaving. Operations will go to the new facility in Long Island. The satellite uplinks are already available

@a5 They file WARN based on the office from which a particular employee's job is based. New York jobs will still fall under the 90 day NYS WARN, regardless of where corporate HQ is based.

1515 is closing. Nothing we can do about that. They have been working with developers to revamp the broadcast center to house whatever jobs are left in NY. All the studios for news etc for the east coast will be out of the BCC with operations and transmission moving to their new Long Island facility.

I’m sure they will still keep space on both coasts (ny will be in a cheaper location), but almost all the new execs are Skydance/west coast so they are certainly not going to move to the east. So hq on west makes sense. Don’t forget RedBird is ny based and they installed some high level execs as well.

@OP it won’t be used as a headquarters address. It doesn’t mean everyone’s job in 1515 is moving to LA. But yeah I doubt we will be in 1515 long term. Other offices are available in NYC.
