@ab They don't know how to keep software companies. I wouldn't include "software" at Dell, LOL.. its a joke! It is a known fact they buy software companies (in the past to name a few Quest (2012), Boomi (2010), Moogsoft (2023), and more) because they make and take its 85% margin in revenue. Then Dell thinks its clever and sells them right back to whomever and gets rid of them w/out a clue of its ramification to the employees that ran it. A F U to Michael Dell and is jack hole cohorts. They are selfish - not sure why anyone or everyone on here thinks Dell thinks of his employees.. HE DOES NOT! HE THINKS about HIMSELF, as does his cohorts directly under him. It was once a place to be proud to work at but now its a dissolving business.. PS. Love working on my MAC now and forever! That Dell PC is a POS. breaking down constantly.
They blame AI and quietly send the position to cheaper countries. Rationale--it's cheaper countries right NOW, but soon, soon, SOON, those jobs will be done by AI... Someday!
@c9 I agree.. The headcount reductions are as much about keeping the balance sheet lean and investors happy. AI advancement to happen in real sense will take a few years.
I call bs. Sure, there are lots of tech layoffs but I haven’t seen any deploy AI in any real impactful way yet. I think the tech layoffs are: due to over hiring and over paying during COVID; and companies dumping their DEI hires and useless people like HR. AI is a convenient cover for the latter.
OP - what is your source? Not that I don’t believe, I would just like more detail.
