It appears jobs numbers like "139,000 jobs were added in May 2025" are based on seasonally adjusted numbers. I just caught a YouTube video saying we lost 623,000 full time jobs so I looked it up: https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/LNS12500000 Sure enough, 135,463K in April and 134,840K in May for a difference of 623K. Looking at the numbers without seasonal adjustments in https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/LNU02500000 it went from 134,994K to 134,927K for a loss of 67K. Total employment not seasonally adjusted in: https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/LNU02000000 went from 164,069K to 163,401K for a loss of 668K. I wonder why none of this is news?
