Executive Leadership Scheduling

Does anyone know what people leaders are supposed to work at the store level?

We have a lot of unfairness going on, which doesn’t align with the company’s direction a couple years ago.

@ab our store captains are closing 3 nights a week. Store manager just decided they will no longer close. We only have 1 sales manager for entire store. 4 execs total

In my store, which is a small volume store
With one store mgr, one MBA, one Merch Mgr, two CXMs, one APM and five Captains, everyone has 2 closing shifts per week with the exception of the store mgr who has one and the receiving captain who only works opening or mid. Sundays are NOT counted as closing shifts. We always have 2 executives closing. Out of a 6 week schedule period with 12 weekend days we get 6 weekend days off. We don’t always get full weekends off and rarely get 2 days in a row unless we request.
I don’t complain because our store manager is fair, honors requests when she can and treats everyone the same when it comes to scheduling.

Someone asked why do CXM's have keys? Are you serious? We have 6 executives and two of them are CXM's. They have to be able to open and close the building so the have to have keys!

CXM and Captains work 3 days, 2 nights have 2 weekends off a month.
MBA, OOM, SMM work the same schedule but sometimes 4 days and 1 night. We only get one weekend off in a 6 week cycle
The STM always finds a way to change her schedule through out the week to avoid working most weekends. .

All executives in my building work 5 days, rotate closings 1-2 nights a week, 2 weekends off every 6 weeks. It's not fair or appropriate to have any executive not work weekends or nights. All that workload being dumped on the ones made to close isn't fair and doesn't create an engaging team to work with, it actually creates resentment and apathy.

Our SMM and OOM take the most of our opening the building first leader there shifts - limited weekends

STM MBA open/mid four of their five days one close a week - every other weekend off

CXM 2 closes 3 opens - 2 weekends off every six weeks

Captains 2 closes 3mid/opens - 2 weekends off every 6 weeks

Captains are the lowest on the totem pole. They will have to work the closing, weekends, and holidays.

TX for the person asking which part of the country do captains close by themselves. Our store runs what the STM wants NOT based on Macys

SMM, MBA, OOM, VM work early shifts and all rotate weekends.
Sales Captains/ Managers close.

Store Manager never works weekends.

I’m in Bloomingdales it’s a consistent pattern. Certain managers close on weekends others never have. Tons of unfairness and favoritism going on.

Why in the world do CXMs have Keys?! Whos your LP partner??

Closing is the worst. No body wants to work weekends and holidays either. Captains are considered key holders and can close the store by themselves.

I work at an F50 and for a Store Manager who does a better than decent job at holding all leaders accountable across all needs of the business. Yes, there are weeks that can be pretty hard, but overall I don't feel like we have an environment where people don't pull their weight. It's an expectation of all leaders to own their floors and manage their teams efficiently, whether It involves merchandising, workload planning, CX, etc

Captains should never close the building alone unless it is an emergency. I’d love to know which store this occurred at so it can address, but I understand if you’re not comfortable sharing. If you’re willing, perhaps you could share what part of the country it’s in.

My STM, OOM, SMM, MBA work Monday-Friday 8-5, thats with 2 CXMs, and no AP in the building. So basically the CXMS open/close, work weekends, when there is no closing manager the captain has to close 2 buildings with no help, if there is a customer/colleague accident they have to figure it out. I would also like to know if these people ever have a closing shift, especially now in tough times.
