Thread regarding 3M layoffs

I haven't had a boss in years

I report to someone, but after they flattened the hierarchy and got rid of all the middle managers I ended up reporting directly to the director in my org.

He's not interested in or capable of leading a team. I never see him except during our monthly 1:1 (which is basically just a monthly recap so he can tell his boss what I do).

There's no leadership here at 3M anymore. Just a bunch of disinterested, self-important jagoffs having meetings because they didn't know what else to do. And nobody can get promoted, so it's never to change.

My managers are always....I have no clue what you are doing, but you get great reports from others that you are making things happen...so just keep doing whatever you are doing.

If I can keep that going for 4 more years, im done!!

My boss is oblivious and never follows through. We are viciously micromanaged and nobody wants to stay anymore. Clearly BB has no plans to fix this despair and suffering.

@aa
I had a boss exactly like that in R&D. Now he is retired and I am too. It so happened that could not stand strong women. But he still retired as VP R&D for an organization. He used to get scoops from his favorite planted members in the group. It was pathetic. 3M HR did not care

For many years I had a boss that detested me (he was a s-xist male and I am female). about an hour before our scheduled 1:1 monthly meeting he would text me asking: Do we need to meet this month? is there anything you want to discuss with me? Most of the time I would answer no. I ended up meeting with him about 3-4 times a year, and those rare meetings lasted about 20 minutes. he would leave my office and walk over to the open area to pal around with the guys for the remainder of our scheduled 1:1 meeting hour. Needless to say, he had no clue what I worked on, and I never got above average rating or a promotion. Such a great example of 3M "leaders".
