Thread regarding BP PLC layoffs

Leadership shakeup is not good for the stock, apparently

  • BP’s board said it had unanimously decided to remove Chairman Albert Manifold with immediate effect.
  • London-listed shares of the company fell as much as 9% on the news.

@aa I love how you’re getting upvotes on price prediction now when you received an overwhelming amount of negativity before haha! >$50 in 2026 & +25% ‘27

Shouted at Meg in public. KD backed her complaint. Now we can install Vicki from oxy as our chairwoman and move on

If he was fired for shouting at MA, why wasn’t he fired months ago? My guess is the board had no problem with him shouting at the ceo, but once Meg experienced it she told them it was him or her. The board went with firing Albert rather than losing their new ceo.

I see AM is denying his behaviour. Guess what? If everyone thinks you’re and a--hole except you…they may be onto something.

@bm You can tell from the look of AM that he was a loudmouth bully. According to the UK press, MA was the one getting shouted at, together with more junior employees. Nobody, as far as I am aware, has hired GC and her endless array of designer outfits. If anyone was ever an example of style over substance, it is she. Tufan was offered the CEO gig before MO, but he quite rightly turned it down. It is at the stage where no top quality executive will touch BP. They are the corporate kiss of death.

No management is better than bad management. Is there a single leader in BP worth protecting? Cut the heads off the remaining snakes and let the individual contributors work instead of punishing us with endless drama!

Maybe time for the board itself to change out. Who appointed Manifold.. and what was the board’s DD on him! Hope Elliot takes action to change the board out

Great decision to hire someone with zero experience and a bully to boot. Another cr-p and uninspiring leader who reportedly treated people like dirt.

The clear out needs to continue. bp have some very good people working for it but they are being led by a bunch of monkeys and incompetent, indignant id--ts all promoted way beyond their limits.

MA seemed like a decent chap the rest of them are a sorry state of affairs. Special mention for GC whose strategy was about as good as a chocolate teapot. Typical management consultant. Big mouth, full of herself, but expensive and utterly useless.

BP leadership and culture will be studied in business schools for years. Obviously not in a good way.

Manifold is just another employee that yays or nays the strategy, which is on autopilot once it’s set for the short to medium term. Production is not going to take a hit, employees are not going to lower their delivery etc. it may be a big deal for GL and their careers, but the stock should bounce back in a few days, we are not going to see a dip in production. I just see a buying opportunity. The Chairs line of sight is 5-10 years out. $50 by end of year, I predicted $38 and $44 last year.

More naughty leaders at BP... and we wonder why we underperform.
