Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Only 529 jobs in OR

Now that we know the impact from official warn notice, it makes me think will this be all? How does Intel plan to cut 15k jobs with 500+ layoffs in OR? Doesnt add up. If I am not in this list, am I safe for this year?

Just shows how inaccurate this site is, biased by all the hysterical fab techs idling in the cafe, trying to think of how they can blow everything out of proportion.

Virtually everything posted on this site is fugazi.

These number are not correct. It should be a lot higher. Maybe not all the data has come in. They update on Tuesday and Thursday.

529 people is just the number for this week. There will be more such announcements in the coming weeks.

The reported WARN numbers for Oregon don’t add up. I only see a few marketing roles on the list yet there will be dozens of Oregon marketing roles eliminated this week.

This is just the first wave of many. There will be several waves until next year.

529! What a joke, LBT 50k RIF is what is needed to save INTC.

There are multiple rounds. This week is just the first wave.

OR: None of the module development engineer role is included in that 529. WARN notice is getting a bit delayed then the actual numbers. Wait for coming days

I'm told the 529 figure will skyrocket next week. Not all WARNs have been posted yet. Next week will be another round of postings.

I think we now see why there were so many delays in even getting this relatively small number of headcount reductions.

I get that it is a huge deal to those affected, but to anyone who is focused on right-sizing the company, this appears to be far from consequential.

Until LBT and the Board make actual hard decisions about what to shut down or sell, all efforts to downsize are merely an exercise in futility.

It takes a certain amount of effort to run a fab, do financials, develop products and so forth, and the people doing that are for the most part being productive.

Big Time automation is coming but for now outsourcing is the best way to implement AI, yet the truly best thing to do is to stop doing what is not adding value.

Shut down those products, labs, support groups and production. Shuttering NEX and Automotive were easy wins. Now go shut down products which have actual sales but are languishing or have no roadmap to growth.

LBT seems capable of making those choices but maybe ELT is still preventing any reduction of their empires?

Whatever the case, the situation is inexplicable and inexcusable.

It is lies, news and market manipulation to make it look better in Q2 earnings.

I monitor Intel news for a while. It just makes some noise before the quarterly earnings and releases some fake news once in a while to bump up stock.

@ad The trolls like to exaggerate everything.

Total layoffs across the company are probably something like a few thousand, which is mostly just restructuring and a few middle managers.

Nothing to see here, everyone move along.

Do we know if they all have been notified already?

For all the hoohaw on this site, you'd think thousands were laid off.

All 529 must be posters here, and if so then terminating them is doing the right thing.

Andy would approve.

This year only 3k headcount reduction planned. Next year 5k. LBT is slow in cutting heads.
