Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

No Room At The Inn

Just got a mail saying Cherrywood doesn't have capacity for remotes to come back to the office so stay remote for the time being even if your workday status changes to onsite on monday . slow hand clap, geniuses in charge, geniuses.

Wondering how big the Irvine office is. I’m way over an hour away but don’t trust the geo fencing.

"Canteen downsized"

At least you still have one. Ours was closed a few years ago and no one in management will say anything about if it will be reopened.

So how will they be tracking if you were previously remote (but within an hour drive still) or hybrid if both are going to be set to “Onsite”?

Canteen downsized, carpark downsized, not enough seating for staff and sales all crammed into one small noisy area.
Morale is in the toilet and targets through the roof.
We will have to book a cubicle just for a toilet break at this stage but apparentley we are doing great.

"I’m here in the US at RR1, can’t wait to see what happens on Monday. Might need to work out of my car LOL."

RR campus is pretty empty right now and there are not that many employees in the geo area

I am curious to see what happens on my office on Monday. Pre pandemic we had 4 floors of one building and 2 floors of another building roughly the same size basically full. We've lost a few ppl since then butvI am skeptical that everyone will fit. Of course all our questions to management/facilities regarding this are being answered with complete and utter silence.

Just because it's illegal does not mean discrimination will not happen...

@av+1jn0zadqm Under Irish law they can't do that.
Although we all know they will give you as little as possible.

@av+1jn0zadqm they can't do that in Ireland. They hid it in the FAQs. Remote status can't impact promotion etc

I think irish contract law supersedes company policy. If you have a remote contract Dell can't change without consultation.

Does anyone really know what will happen if you don't show up in Ireland.

It seems like Hr are pushing back on management and then facilities have some sort of say in it as well.

I really don't think management knows what to do. Seems like they are trying to be heavy handed without much backing in the hope they won't get a lot of kickback.
