Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Layoff

Diversity and Inclusion policies should be about equity, but right now it feels like they are being used as a shield during layoffs. If only men are losing their jobs to maintain 'numbers,' that isn't inclusion—it’s a different kind of bias.

All we lost are white men, while their peers(african american and south Asian woman) remain.

@OP it's sad you don't feel safe in your job, perhaps you should take that mindset to a different company. That's not who we are

Literally every person I know that’s been laid off this week is a POC or a minority in some way. Still blows my mind that EP’s on my team were let go, but no IP’s were touched.

My team lost 4 people total, 2 men 2 women. But do go one with your s-xist griping, it’s fun to watch people tear it apart in the comments.

All the male squad leads in my space remain. The only cuts were women.

What is wrong with you? Your mind is insanely warped to blame women and minorities for what this administration and CAPITALISM has done. They already stripped “DEI” programs, grants and funding at the government level and you are still complaining. Point your anger to the right place or be lost forever.

@a9, the second "hire xyz no matter what" edict from "senior leadership" exposes you as a phony. The Indian dominance is self made, there can't be a top down directive. If anything, the directive needs to be the opposite.

There is a subset of people in this country that, no matter what, will find a way to punch down on those who historically have been oppressed.

DEI is so 2024, you people complained about it for a whole 4 years before that. Then your people won the election and stripped all protections for these historically protected classes, yet, you’re still complaining. You’ve won, you’re just kicking a dead horse now. Have some humility in victory.

Just say it, the mere existence of these minority classes fills you with hatred because you’re a hateful person. That’s all this is. Don’t make the argument that these folks are bad at their jobs and all that other nonsense. You’re a hateful person with repressed feelings.

Yes, Fidelity nakedly uses "DEI" to deploy racist and s-xist policies in hiring, promotion, and layoffs. I've had senior leadership tell me as much directly: boost women no matter what, boost Indians no matter what.

They might be right; I've observed many instances where women were promoted despite not being the most qualified candidates

What are you going on about? Now that I’m stopping to consider it I heard of more women losing their job yesterday, but that’s not what this layoff was about.

@OP this is such a ridiculous take, especially considering that it wasn’t only men impacted by RIF and the ratio of men to women in those tech jobs is not 1:1
