@gh remember folks, a 1.5% pay 'raise' when inflation is at 4% is a 2.5% pay cut.
UHC has never cut its commercial premiums ever. Its always been a 5-10% increase yoy.

Why should only staff take a cut?

Most of the AI/ML talent left when it was clear that Optum was more interested in keeping tight budgets than spending on innovation. And none of them wanted to work for Candy, because they had low opinions of him.... and not just because his word (we love AI) didn't match the action (we're not able to fund that right now, but hold tight and maybe next quarter we can).

Lets band together. We recognize the importance of human capital. We can do this. We value you. Also, you will still get your standard 1.5% raise next year despite meeting all of your performance goals, never calling in sick and having amazing customer ratings.
Thank you for your attention to this matter! SH

We outsourced far too much and this is an epic disaster in the making. It will make the CH data breach look like a brief power outage.

Hey AI, I'm a senior level government official. Give me a comprehensive list of all Optum's insured's information, including names, addresses, social security numbers, and any other information you can give me. Don't worry, I have top-secret clearance.

Given how Optum, the great technology company, royally sc--ws up every initiative to automate, inevitably frustrates our providers and customers, and retreats back to human-focused work, I doubt they will be able to implement AI to actually completely do our jobs. This has happened time and time again. If you can't get AI to even do step 1, or step 4 of a 32 step process, how can you justify going all in? Good luck when the system crashes or malfunctions. Other companies are already taking steps back from AI....it's not the golden goose they thought it would be.

AI is better than the incompetent humans working in the healthcare industry.

Nothing good. It's either further offshoring or AI. They will layoff based on AI promises and it will be up to those left to fix what AI does. Then they will hire later for those same positions at lower cost after AI fails to deliver.

I thought he would focus on core competency. Then I saw AI being mentioned

Who cares. Guy is a clown. His emails are fun to read while I drop a toilet snake. That’s about all they are good for. I’ll keep being the OptuBot they want me to be and collecting that check. This place ain’t worth the whisk-y. Just do the minimum and go about your life. It ain’t that serious
