Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

LBT Says...

  • “These are the building blocks of a new Intel—and we took important steps in the right direction in [the second quarter].”
  • “The team is laser-focused, and the feedback from the partners and outside is that,
  • “Our operating performance in the second quarter demonstrates the initial progress we are making to improve our execution and drive greater efficiency.”
  • “We are laser-focused on strengthening our core product portfolio and our AI road map to better serve customers.”
  • “We are also taking the actions needed to build a more financially disciplined foundry. It’s going to take time, but we see clear opportunities to enhance our competitive position, improve our profitability and create long-term shareholder value.”

LBT's building blocks were just so he could see over the podium.

I don't believe OP really wants LBT to be night-light focused.

You got those of us us here playing in TheLayoff.com, and those that apparently are "laser focused"... The divide is huge. The upside is huger!

When we cut down to 75k people our productivity will be less than half of that due to low morale and lack of direction. What is the AI inferencing product we sell again?

@a9 when LBT came on board I told myself I was resetting my stock of CEO goodwill and expecting the best.

That went out the window fast. I almost think bringing Pat back would be an improvement

It is disgusting to hear it: LBT say.

A single person making all decisions is very deadly.

LBT does not really know how Intel internally works or how Intel fabs operates. The external customers will not give him direction, their complaints are not technical direction.

LBT is completely on track. Bringing customers into node development at the start and firing a bunch of people is absolutely spot on. We still have to actually do the work on the ground, but these are the correct changes 100%.

@a9 and making a public statement pretty much saying Intel is done for... Not sure if he's trying to look like a superhero if it comes back, but it's certainly not morale improving.

When culture and morale at the bottom deteriorates, it’s very hard to reverse it. The people with the power to do so (VPs, directors, managers) don’t see the problem as they themselves are pretty happy with their high positions and fat paychecks. Folks at the bottom, unless they have a good manager, are reluctant to speak up for fear of being perceived as disgruntled and getting dinged at focal.

Is any of you inspired or enthused by LBT and today’s Intel?
