The Numbers Don't Lie: Discriminatory Terminations

Numbers reveal a disturbing trend: recent hires are being let go based on their hire date, not anything else. This is not only unjust, but also blatantly discriminatory and illegal. This practice is a clear betrayal of trust and a recipe for disaster.

HR will probably have to try to stop this and balance the numbers going forward.

Affected employees, stay tuned. Even though management seems to be prioritizing their own interests over the company's well-being, you deserve to be treated fairly and have your rights respected.

@a7 not entirely. Intel has to protect against discrimination lawsuits. If layoffs hit particularly groups of employees disproportionately, such as older workers, then that risks a lawsuit. So legal and HR need to review and approve the layoff lists to avoid that.

@b7 I do understand, and I've experienced that myself. Most of my Indian colleagues are clean and have no body odor problem. But there are some that have shockingly strong body odor. I'm not saying the stereotype has no basis. I'm saying if you want to discuss nepotism among the Indian employees, adding in that they "smell" is a good way to have people write you off as racist, rather than consider the validity of your opinion.

@ab you don't understand, I live in a community with a neighborhood pool. Some of my neighbors are Indian and I can smell when they are in the pool at night without being able to see them.

@af What are you even talking about. How did I discount it? I AGREED with the sentiment, even gave my own personal experience with it. What I said was if you couch it in racist insults, nobody's going to listen. I don't know how much clearer I could've been. Or are you being deliberately obtuse?

@OP so many professional victims. People who do something less time are, on average, far worse than people who have been doing it longer. This is nearly always true. They’re worse. It makes sense. Sorry.

@a9 Nepotism among Indian employees is a real thing. But saying stuff like that just discredits you and gives people and excuse to say "you're just a racist" and discount what you say. I have personally seen, time & time again, strong American candidates passed over for RCGs from India, solely because the manager was Indian. But insulting all Indians just makes people think you're a crazy racist.

@OP HR won't do anything. This is standard operating procedure. Try to remember, this isn't about "who can we do without?" or "who isn't pulling their weight?" This is about "how can I keep my friends and lackies?"

You have to understand how this works. Each manager pre-selects who they want to keep, usually based on friendship, su-king up, etc. They then create a skills matrix tailor made to keep those employees. For example, if they don't want to keep someone who's relatively new, their skills matrix will emphasize years of experience. On the other hand, if they don't want to keep an old-timer, their skills matrix will emphasize new technologies & recent training. It's all a shell game.

Just build a skill matrix where the criteria is experience understanding the current system. No discrimination at all.

That is usually what happens. They are not as well known and managers making the decisions do not have a full accounting of these employees skill sets. Also the skills matrices are weighed more heavily on skills that employees who have been around longer usually have. It’s not illegal, it is just a foolish waste of future talent.
