Thread regarding Canon Inc. layoffs

No calls..

Just because the calls didn't come thru today, doesn't mean it's not in the works.. Its still early in the month.. Maybe it's gonna be after the big 4hr meeting next week.. Everyone knows something is on the horizon because of the numbers looking horrendous, the vibes are way off, and all of the outsourcing going on..For the people that are really wanting this to happen, don't give up hope..

supposedly the 120 job openings are all backfills. Sounds like smart people leaving before they find themselves out of work in the next lay off this quarter.

Canon in the US has roughly 120 open jobs. Now, the news media suggests that the job market is tough in finding a job. So, with 120 open jobs either people don't want to work at Canon or the job market is not as bad as the media suggests.

I would think, people are just cautious to even want to work at Canon. You can also look at the salary range in the postings and it looks like Canon is back to their undercutting what they offer.

Outsourced security firms also suddenly have a presence again in some office buildings for the first time in 2025. The key-carded doors that hadn't had human security in 7 months need it again, apparently.

Bottom line, only the C-suite execs silently monitoring this feed have any idea what's going to happen and when. But boy were those June numbers rough. And the announcement today of the import tariffs for Japan increasing to 25% isn't likely going to help any of us.

Maybe the reason is some managers have left on their own leaving and reshuffling the folks who reported to them to new bosses. That might be why the silence.

Not thinking we are in the clear at all, only time will tell. Did anyone notice that the on-site (Melville HQ) security cars are no longer the Canon ones but Allied Universal? Not a groundbreaking change but subtle. Are they cutting security personnel and outsourcing instead?

@by Management's idea of collaboration is to kn--e 🗡️ employees with cruelty in the back. If I heard laughter coming from a nearby meeting room, I'd break in and say you're disruptive. And by the way, what's so damned funny? Tanking morale?

@a9 Don't be surprised over a continuous talent drain. The restructuring plan su-ks and morale is in the toilet. Meanwhile, stick profit off your tailpipe, Sammy.

Cut out a picture of Sammy Boy, post it to a dart 🎯 board and go at it. Pr--k the pr--k, one dart at a time. This waste of human flesh has done so much damage to the company is beyond disgraceful.

Oh give it up already. Nothing is happening, so stop incessantly scaring people for your own selfish reasons. News flash: The company is not failing, however, employee morale and just the overall pride of working for this esteemed company is at an all time low. BUT no one in a position of power seems to care enough to do anything about it!!!!! And that is why these boards are so active. Sad and completely fixable.

@a9 and that's the thing, they made such a big deal about coming back into the office 3 days a week for "collaborating" when in reality at some locations, you're not even allowed to talk to the person sitting next to you or you will get your seat moved. I can tell you I haven't collaborated since we started back 3 days a week, nor do I want to at this point... This place su-ks the life out of you mentally and physically.. (at least the Burlington location does)

The CEO is a disgrace. We must keep the heat on and demand his resignation.

When this kabuki theatre “restructuring” baloney was introduced last summer, I stated that the company would be in worse shape a year later. Well, here we are, and I hate to say I told ya so.

There is no vision, no strategy, no tactical plan.

I can envision the knuckleheads at corporate throwing darts at the wall trying to come up with ideas. Don’t be surprised if full office time is restored for January 2026. Clearly, the “restructure” didn’t pan out, so hey let’s fully maximize our time together, that will be the grand solution!
