Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Move or stay?

AT&T has started showing signs to relocate employees to hubs almost sine 2018 when California employees were forced to relocate to Austin. Yet, here I am holding the ground, swamped with work, unable to find the right time to exit, and fearing where T will ask me to move.. How did you all break the chain to find happiness?

I didn't, tbh. Was too much of a coward to pull the trigger, myself. Ended up in a surplus after 22 years. Landed a pretty decent job. If it's not right for ya, there IS life on the other side of T. Whether it's worth the risk/uncertainty, only you can know. Best of luck with whatever you decide

There will certainly be more of this drama in 2025. Sunset development who owns the 5005 Executive Parkway corporate park (Bishop ranch?) in San Ramon confirmed that there are currently no plans to renew lease with AT&T, which expires at the end of 2025.

Don't let your employer dictate how you live your life! Don't move for this company if it's only to keep your job! If it's a promotion and salary increase, then by all means if it fits your career plan! I would never take an ultimatum because they say, "If you want to keep your job, it's now in Dallas!" Take the severance and move on, this company is beyond total FUBAR! It's not the same company anymore, not your parents Bell system it once was!

"No one has been forced t move anywhere. RTO is a choice."

My cancer did not give me much of a choice. I had to keep the job that I had done outside of Dallas for 18 years because I had to have the insurance. But thank you for your empathy.

What is to fear? Decline to move, accept a fat severance, find employment elsewhere.

This should be the real end game if you’re not in Dallas already.

  1. wait for the "move to dallas" letter.
  2. Select HE-L NO.
  3. wait for termination date letter.
  4. work until that date, earning your salary for those weeks or months.
  5. collect severance.
  6. look for new job
  7. live happily ever after

Who was forced to relo to Austin? They've been shuffling people around at TRI, not bringing more people there
