Thread regarding HP (Hewlett-Packard) layoffs

Contract Workers No Longer Safe

More and more contractors are being moved to different recruiting companies that will ultimately be their last stop. Contracts will expire and not be renewed and in some cases will be cancelled outright. If you have had three or more different recruiting companies under your tenure with HP then you will likely be next on the chopping block. Your $100,000 salary will be taken from you and fed into Asia.

Time for HP CWs to wake up. Anyone who chooses to rely on HP for their continued employment as a contractor is making a big mistake. HP is on a slow burn downward, should be obvious to anyone.

I guess the original poster has a crystal ball. I left my contract position with HP because they kept furloughing me. Other very good developers left before I did so I was probably one of the last to leave.
Good luck

It is also not just about a contractor per se, but the location where the contractor works. For example, after the San Diego closing many contractors were laid off (even remote) since their managers and teams were laid off in the US location before their jobs were moved to Asia.

HP is engaging in site closings and downsizing in the US which is very dangerous for everyone.
