Anyone just hate coming to campus even more on a Friday? All these old f*rts still just aimlessly wandering around looking to give free 1990s advice, making a difference right until 5pm on a Friday. Just stay home or away from those of us trying to get TPS done so we can get out of here.

@a8 whenever an ignorant thug starts talking I laugh.
@OP why do you want boomer to retire? Being young and stupid isn’t very healthy. Sounds like you have more mouth than brains.
@eb Uh….millennials are middle aged bruh.
I guess when you get old you start getting little things like generations mixed-up. Maybe you should…..retire…
@e2 Nah, just tired of the constant whining bruh.
@ck Or coming to me to fix “computer issues” that can be googled in 0.5 seconds.
I think you youngsters are just jealous of how good us boomers had it during the majority of our careers. I can count on one hand the number of employees that I knew that left the company due to NSI/PIP in my first 30 years (mostly misfits & f-ups). This threat really didn't exist. Now you guys have to deal with this cr-p on a daily basis.
Good luck - you will never be a long-term employee, XOM will just not allow it these days.
@e0 You people all say the same BS when you get called out.
The main lesson I’ve taken from watching and listening to you old guys is that I should know when to move on.
You too will get older and wiser …..potentially
How do you want to be treated by the younger generation - with dignity and respect or blind ambition and arrogance ?
@c3 I am pretty sure you must have been PIPd and come back to this board to complain and try make yourself feel better by putting down Baby Boomers who survived the annual hunger games for decades
Back when we weren't called a commodity to our face every day.
When was that?
@ca We are no longer living in the world of the 1980s and the 1990s. The world as you knew it, for all practical purposes, no longer exists.
Your advice may be well-intentioned, but it’s irrelevant. Thanks anyway.
I also don’t see any evidence that people who are ostensibly older and wiser are coping with the unprecedented levels of disruption that typify the current decade any better than those younger than they are, at least not psychologically.
Keep this attitude and you will never be at your potential. Older people, espeically people that has been in their roles for 10+ years hold invaluable cummulative knowledge that are not found in books or research. If you blindly shut out people that graciously offer their wisdom only exposes your arrogance ... these people are not competing with you, it doesn't help their 0% raise by offering you advice.
Save your money as everyone eventually gets too old to stay employed in the O&G industry. Too old defined as 55+. It's not what you can do for your company, it's how old are you. It's a fact of life so don't get angry, max out your Roth 401K and your back door Roth IRA's for you and your spouse so when you get laid off, you are financially free and no longer have to give head to a manager half your age.
@c1 What’s tiresome is how you people keep claiming to some great knowledge that somehow keeps the earth spinning. You’re just bureaucrats. Not even good ones.
@aa Nah, just tired of listening to and dealing with your BS.
Truth is, I’ve done pretty well for myself. But in boomer-land, my success doesn’t count because I didn’t “pay my dues” by licking their boots (or whatever).
Keep showing up to that ridiculous campus and making yourselves and everyone else in your lives miserable. It’s both fun and tragic to watch. Hope the pension is worth it (if you even get to collect it).
@bz Go read some OTC papers and you will learn about the “nothing” we did. Ypu seem to have no idea that when we were coming up in the company much of the design was done in house. As was the drafting. We even owned our own installation barges. If you think us oldies can only manage maybe you should listen to our stories. I guarantee I can kick your a$$ at math.
@c0 ah yes hello there Mr broken record who thinks all engineers must crunch numbers. Your posts are tiresome. Go away.
@b4 I’m pretty sure I can copy/paste vendor purchase specs and size piping.
And that’s about all you know how to do.
- Stay retired*.
The bvtt-hurt from these old guys on this thread is something to behold. You’re all proving every negative point that’s been made about all of you.
Don’t worry, Exxon will be just fine without you. So will every other company. If you want to get paid to do nothing and enjoy great job security, then go work for the government.
Oh wait……
Gen X here. You are missing out of this is your attitude. Boomer mentors have made a huge difference for me. Learn from their stories and build relationships with them. You can learn a lot from them if you try to. I am sad to see so many boomers retire and also sad to see the age discrimination on full display from the company and our youngest employees.
There is ironically a goto/TPS link that generates reports for procurement. Not that they actually do anything so it’s fitting
I've forgotten more than you know, and still know more than you. And I retired over a year ago. But don't worry . . . if an Indian hasn't taken over your job in a couple of years, AI will. Or, just maybe, you could try listening to some of the old-timers before they're gone.
@OP, go back to high school and grow up.
@OP why don’t you just a ay at home on Fridays? Better yet, stay home permanently, you won’t be missed
Right, because the real problem on layoff day is seasoned coworkers saying hello.
I think you parents are death. Lol
Wow. You sound like a teenager who knows everything. Good luck in your future life.
Whenever a boomer starts talking I just immediately tune them out. When I try to make it obvious by putting my AirPods in they just start talking louder. It’s like dude, retire already.
