The only all clear we get on layoffs at MDT is when the DEI arguments start back up

As long as the women are at least a 7 on the hotness scale. DEI brought in a bunch of 3-5’s.

DEI isn’t the reason for Medtronic’s downfall. Great workers don’t complain about women or minority hiring. In fact women and minorities are better than male workers in many instances and areas. I think those insecure and ineffective workers always want to blame their failures on women, minorities and DEI. The great tragedy is MDT and many corporations are simply that they infested with lazy workers who only know how to breed complaints and get nothing done.

@r0 Please don't try and make it so simple. These issues are complex, numerous, intertwined and interdependent. No one said DEI was the ONLY issue. However, you would be correct Leadership has been out sourcing Jobs for 5 decades. This started under the guise with this globalization we are lifting the world out of poverty and this is good while not pointing out how we are destroying local opportunities. Medtronic is just a more recent participate. Wage deflation was also simultaneously having downward pressure by corporatists importing cheaper labor across the board for farms, medical, IT, engineering and more. This was all under the guise shortages and costs. All these imports soaked up resources and opportunities that would have been available to locals while driven locals cost of living. Wait the system propagandized us to think these opportunities were not lost. You just need a degree. Oh, wait not everyone is capable, skills ready or can afford a degree. So we will hand out college loans like candy and create a bunch of new near useless garbage degrees thus creating generation of debt slaves with low income earning power. And now we are full circle back to DEI to get these graduates in the work force. I could go on but you are right DEI is NOT the only reason.

@qk

Again DEI is just a stupid smoke screen to cover the fact that our leaders our outsourcing AMERICAN jobs. Hence, why the quality of our products are in the gutter and the handful of us left in the US are the ones trying to damage control.

But yes, keep wasting your time blaming DEI or whatever.

@mp Your the gullible fool. You can even see in the recent DEI training. They know they are at risk legally hence the wording change about having a diverse group but be sure to ignore group characteristics and only hiring the most qualified. I have documented VPs and goals stating the opposite. They don't have to be the best they just have to check the right boxes and be good enough or trainable right out of the mouths of these VPs and HR which had increasing this as a metric. It was on everyone goals. It is and was illegal! Now the lawsuits are coming and we are stuck having to live with all the acquired garbage hired under these good enough or can be trained directives. Again Ken is just a poster child for these illegal activities.

Ken Washington was neither bad nor good CTO. He did nothing to improve MDT or himself. I may have heard this incorrectly but I thought he said he wanted us to work on way to refurbish implantable devices for reuse. Refurbishing is not something implantable medical device companies work or focus on. Glad he left which was the best present to employees.

Who remembers Ken Washington? The CTO with no medical device experience. He was quoted saying Medtronic’s MedTech is worth a $200/share premium. I bet he didn’t make 2 nickels in stock options.

MDT at a 12 year low. Reoccurring history of underwater stock option incentives that likely expire with no value. Hindsight, only accept lower risk Restricted Stock Units (RSU) incentives.

@a1 Because he is on the board and has loaded the board and senior leadership team with his cronies. They're all in it for themselves, to keep their sweet gigs and cash out. Elliott doesn't have feelings about this company: they're vultures circling a wounded animal and pecking away at whatever they can.

That's the simple truth. Parasites. Self-interest and rent-seeking from the Board, Geoff, and all of the tumorous growths he's brought in.

@OP on the bright side, the lower it goes, the more likely it is the execs get shown the door. CFO, CTO and EVP of Operations and Supply have all “left” in the past two years.
