Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

RTO - Return-to-Office. It should be (Mandated) for Everyone (without a Viable Exception) now.

RTO - Return-to-Office.

It should be (Mandated) for Everyone (without a Viable Exception) now.

Back-in-the day, employees are (expected) to be at work; not doing other things at home (during work paid hours).

Are you going to start by telling all of the MD’s and Directors that are 100% telecommute? Lol

Especially my manager and director who go on vacations and take calls during their vacation they don't even take a vacation day off. Others in our team are driving 40 miles every day spending hundreds on gas and maintenance. Send em B!tches home.

@pk Prices are high because of Biden's qtr after qtr inflation increases, one Qtr was 21% increase. Would you rather continue paying Iran billions like Obama did and live with all the te------ts Iran funds and commits? Did you complain when Biden caused gas prices were higher than they are now? Ummmhummm

@c5 If you cannot manage your employees remotely, you do not have the competence to be a manager. In fact, most managers at Schwab manage employees remotely being located in different offices.

@OP “Back in the day” we used fax machines, typewriters, and snail mail/interoffice envelopes. “Back in the day” the reason folks didn’t work remote is because there was not the technology to enable most to do so, not because being “in office” was a rewarding experience. Allowing remote work vastly increases the talent pool, increases productivity, engagement, and growth.

@j9 They want you to care? Start paying people for commute time. Chuck's butt buddy (Trump) decided to start a war with Iran because HIS butt buddy (Netanyahu) asked him to. Prices were already high and now gas is way up. Pay people for their time, otherwise, sort out the bad apples that are at home not doing their job and leave the rest of the employees alone.

It's so funny to keep switching IP addresses (just so you can agree with yourself) when you have such a (distinctive way of typing). I think you should (find a better hobby).

Charles Schwab Management (would) do a more effective job of managing their employees (in person).

It would (also) help with their career development.

99.0% of Corporations brought their employees back into the office, years ago.

It’s so funny listening to Boomers trying to moralize to labor about duty like any of us care. Hard work and loyalty haven’t mattered since like the Jimmy Carter admin. Newsflash, we all have to monkey-branch to new companies every few years to maintain competitive wages. Why would I care what’s “fair” in the eyes of this company? It’s not like they plan to follow the same covenant with any of us, they’re comfortable laying off any thousands of employees as long as it helps quarterly profit and stock price. And then they have the gall to speak down to the rest of us about how this will improve company culture and career development lmao. Absolute sociopaths.

You want us to care? You want us to want to be in the office every day? Start rewarding it with higher pay, and stop eliminating our positions during record years after WE make you those profits. Until then no one will care.

Lots of trolls on this one. The reality is, the current rules are completely unfair. Some employees are required to be in office and some are not. If you have a legitimate medical exception then that's one thing but just because you live outside of some arbitrary circle is not a good enough excuse for me. I'm not a troll here. I'm pi---d that I have to be in the office 4 days a week while half of the people I see on meetings get to work from home. I hate going to the office. I don't have any team members in my area. It's literally just me on Teams calls all day. I have to pay for gas and food that absolutely add up in costs. I have to allocate an extra hour of time per day for commuting. I don't see any reimbursement. There is no opportunity for advancement so the whole "promotions go to in office employees" is absolutely BS. These rules su-k. I want to go back to working from home. The job market is so bad right now so I am stuck with what it is. I go to the office. I hate it. I hate everything about it.

And this is why Schwab has such inexperienced, low quality staff. "We don't care if you know what you are doing, just be in the office for the slave master to whip you into shape." I work for a company on the other side of the country and they trust me to do my job from home. Oh yeah, trust...isn't that the Schwab motto? Maybe it should be "Trust, earned over time...unless you are an employee and we'll NEVER trust you."

@a7 Charles Schwab is not your mother. Go back into the office, and (actually) be doing your job; not other things. We all know.

Charles Schwab pays you to do your job at work (not home, doing other things). Covid is over, and has been; for a very long time.

Agreed - 5 days a week, 8 hours a day - Every week, throughout the entire year.

No exceptions, unless with HR approval.

Management can (not) effectively manage their employees remote.

It would (also) help the employee in their career progression.

Agreed, doing laundry at home; having multiple computers up doing personal on the other; and anything non-work related on company paid time during remote.

Well said for the (Spoiled) that complain, and act like they are above RTO. Personally, I would get rid of all of them; unless they had a viable reason to be remote.
