Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Anyone else think the RTO cr-p is more of a "bluff" than anything else?

Yeah, they are tracking badge swipes but 99% of the people in office leave by 11:30am anyways lol... Why even eat at the cafeteria when they are charging insane prices for dog food...

I'm sure they will always say they see an "increase" in bla bla bla thanks to RTO but cmon...

@c6 so how do you give the badges to the next person for the next week. You're so full of cr-p.

I thought the RTO was coming in Q1 last year? I was dismissed last year and my team were told to do at least 3/4 days but the 5 days seemed like it was happening back then

RTO is here to stay, get used to it or hit the bricks!

The 5 members of my team all take turns going into the office with everyone's badges and swiping them. When it's my turn I don't even go inside the building, I just swipe all 5 badges at the door and go home.

@OP Of course it's a bluff. Anyone with any common sense can see that. Look at how many remote people have given the finger to Dell yet they are still here. This is all RTO ever was:

RTO = Forced attrition plan 1.0
SCP = Forced attrition plan 2.0

Not enough people left with the RTO FUD bluff.

I’ve been coffee badging since RTO was announced. My entire team including my mgr is in Brazil. So no one is gonna miss me. I head in after my morning meetings then usually out after I’m done with my coffee and morning sh-t, haha.

@b0

Super funny, little peon. Go find another boot to lick since you aren't capable of anything else.

I've always called BS on the policy. We have folks that are supposed to be in office and never show up. They're still here and have avoided three layoffs so far. It is total managerial discretion. Ya, it's all BS.

@a7 Exactly. Of course numbers will go up when team members get knocked out lol... But, those numbers are what dell wants to see and use as "proof."

My org is global but because i'm in Fed, my team is all 100% in the US; however of the 13 people on my team, 9 are full remote while the other 4 - myself included - go into office. Problem is is that of those 4 who go in, only 2 of us even physically see each other in the office. The other 2 are in different states. But hey, nothing like virtual meetings in office while 99% of your team is at home! in person "collaboration" right?

That's the official "policy" but my guess is it was implemented to force people to quit and those who didn't, are abiding by it out of fear. Each ORG can dictate what they want I believe but most orgs are demanding the 5 days in office bc that's what the "policy" is... My orgs execs never wanted this and don't really care but, apparently want all of us to be in office as often as possible.

I'm an hour drive from the office and go in 4 days/week for a solid 2.5-3 hours but like, why? It's not like a better raise is gonna happen or god forbid a fkn promotion is on the table LOL...

Dell seems to layoff the tenured, the elderly, then the low performers. Everyone else in between seems as if it's random anyways, so I figure as long as you go in 3-4 days/week then you'll be peachy.

I don't really even think they CARE about badge swipes either. It is a scare tactic to force everyone into office so Dell can convince themselves they have a reason to keep the lights on at the office and have a valid excuse to pay the enormous bills for the buildings.

Personally, I think they want us to feel as if we are "on the line" for layoffs if we DON'T go in but in reality, I don't think that is the case considering a solid 25-50% of the company is full remote already... How can they punish those who go in even once/week versus those who walk 10 feet to their home office, especially when dell is clearly trying to be a company in which ALL employees are local to an office?

Not that this is "new" info or anything but, the RTO was 100% to get people to quit, and now that they succeeded in doing so, they have to act as if it was a permanent thing... for a while anyways.

They are bluffing with the whole 5 days/week bs. Those who are of value will never be let go regardless of if they go in 5 days or 0 days.

Yeah individual numbers on my team increased because half the team got layed off. Naturally upper management attributed the increase to RTO instead.
