Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Backfilling Positions Q1

I am beginning to hear rumblings of some of the front line sales reps who were laid off being backfilled as early Q1. Primarily the VBG client execs, public sector and sled CEs, SAMs, and the SMB reps who were just laid off. It’s sounding like they laid off who they perceive as low performers only to be backfilling their positions for the same or similar territory come Q1.

@a7 what is even the point of laying someone off just to backfill the role immediately? Are they looking to hire someone with a slower salary? I’m not understanding the rationale.

@OP I’m in vbg and a member on our team was let go. My boss stated he was told he would have an open headcount at some point early next year. Not saying it was specifically for his role but what else would it be? Bizarre indeed.

I have specialists who were let go for performance applying for their same jobs and being “rehired” 😂 tell me how THAT makes sense.

@OP posted for accepting resume submissions at Verizon's job openings and Verizon's jobs website?

@a2 I’m not trying to add to the bad info. Simply seeing if anyone else is hearing similar rumors or can confirm
