Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Since a bunch of mo--ns hijacked my last post ..

I'll ask again. Why did VZ publicly deny the layoff rumors and then days later leak the news and every source reports 15k job cuts?! Was this Franz's first task in office?

This is not an effin DEI question, so keep your DEI comments to yourself or make your own post, that will get down ited til it ages off.

They had to leak something since articles speculating on what might happen couldn’t be contained. Had to get out in front of it so to speak. Pretty sh---y that we had to hear the news from a (likely planned) news leak than internal straight talk.

Given how close the contradicting comments came out , it’s likely because the first guy didn’t know the communication plan, or at least not aware of a pending decision “how soon should we leak this to the press” before he spoke.

Minority workers will probably be primary target as usual due to implicit discriminations and mgr bias.

You have to understand this - the "DEI hires" and "union bloat" obsessed posts are most likely from one person, who then replies to his own comments and upvotes the heck out of them. I picture an older man sitting alone in an apartment talking to himself while Fox News plays on the TV in the background. SAD.

@OP My take…

First, sizable RIFs can affect share price if investors get nervous. You remember Google and FB downplayed RIFs until the official announcement was made although they had probably planned it for months.

Another reason is to deter a preemptive voluntary departure of high performing employees, which could impact operations, ongoing projects, etc.

Finally, some workers will go into chill mode because “why should I put forth effort if I’m going to get RIFd anyway?”

It’s mind blowing the level of ignorance that runs in this company’s C suite. Crazy part is that they make millions for being stupid.

It's a really disappointing start from Dan. Look, I get that he was open and honest to a degree about there being layoffs and a grand plan he couldn't share. I can accept all that. But what's played out this week is just not cool on any level and completely undermines any hope of trust he could have gained by following through in HIS word and being transparent to US along the way.

It's all just VERY disappointing

They didn't think we deserved the truth and we'd be too stupid to notice.

I think they wanted to keep things under cover until the very end. They probably felt it was too early to announce the news to us and to the world.
Now that its T- 7 days, they decided to let the world know first. Coz we don't deserve answers and we're just here to serve them.
