Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Arvind's house just sold for $2,375,000 - What time is his flight home to Bengaluru to live happily ever after?

What is the over/under betting for Arvind's golden parachute as IBM stock drops to $228 down from $324 in a year. I am going with $250,000,000.

Look at the raid of IBM (and imagine the totals for all the other do nothing "execs") below for the last 4 IBM CEOs.

No one knows anyone on the IBM BoD Board of Directors nor what they do other than show up for the steak and lobster dinners. Remember, Arvind is his own boss being both CEO and Chairman of the Board. That is perverse when the CEO is both.

IBM has a very fat and bloated BoD with 14 do nothings. All make approx $500,0000 a year. That is a cool $7,000,000 that goes to them every 12 months plus stock options all stolen from IBM shareholders and employees.

Gerstner started the IBM raid and walked away with over $400,000,000+ and laid off over 100,000 amazing people over 18 months (I was there IBM Chatbot cheerleader).

Gerstner's book "Who says elephants can't dance" should have been titled "Who says I can't rip off IBM in the largest corporate raid in hostory?".

Palmisano $271,000,000

Rometty $144,000,000

@h8 Heehee. On break from the nonsense that is Think40 "training" (cheerleading) I see that you brag about.

More likely this crook Arvind is returning home to the motherland for a parade in his honor for wiping out IBM's US population and moving tens of thousands of jobs to India. "Is that right?" Not sure if it is cuture or training but every time I get connected with a "support" person in India, they parrot back what you just said and ask "is that right?". So annoying and makes the call like having a root canal. Painful and you just want it over!

The IBM BoD Board of Directors are incompetent and "hired" Arvind (Arvind is also his own boss being both CEO and Chair of the Board) in part because he IS Indian and he knows India and could get away with this money grab and destruction in the US. He was brought up knowing and living in the Indian Caste system which is digusting and clarly he views IBM US employees as "Shudras and Dalits".

The Indian caste system is an ancient, rigid hierarchical social structure that classifies Hindu society into four main varnas based on birth and hereditary occupation: Brahmins (priests/scholars), Kshatriyas (warriors/rulers), Vaishyas (traders/agriculturists), and Shudras (laborers/servants). Outside this system are the Dalits (formerly "untouchables"), who historically faced severe social exclusion and performed menial tasks, with the entire structure traditionally determining marriage, diet, and social interactions.

Over centuries, this structure evolved into thousands of sub-castes called jatis, intensifying social segmentation. While India's modern constitution outlawed caste-based discrimination in 1947 and implemented affirmative action, caste identity still influences rural social life, marriage, and politics to some extent, despite ongoing efforts toward equality and legal protections for marginalized communities.

Well, he’s probably moving closer to Armonk. This is a long commute in traffic. That’s also an ugly house in a not a great town. $2.3 millions is not a lot of money for his salary.

@c1 sounds like your corrupt IBM leader Alvind is planning to fly the coop back to the motherland and you don't like it...the dumpster fire that is IBM is out of control as IBM India's leaders run for cover as things fall apart.

Is Robbie The Good waiting in the wings to take over from Alvind ?

I bet he's buying a bigger house. Who wants to live in a $2,375,000 shithole when your day job is running a shithole.

Just go to the office, badge in and go home. You don't have to be in the office more than a few seconds 3 times a week. This is what I do!

@a6 I hera you and you are 100% right. It is a very hard choice. I just had to leave on my own after a LONG TIME but I could afford to while many need $$$ to survive. Stayimg at IBM definitely affects your mental and pjyscial health so there is that. The best advice I can give with over 4 decades of IT is to: keep your health up even if just walking 20 mins/day, go all in finding a better role at a better company while trying to ignore the IBM nuttiness, do not just apply for 500 roles but NETWORK as the odds are 90% your next roll will be from networking, keep your skills up (no NO ONE cares about Think40 training-cheer leading) and do take free AI courses from many firms offering them, think about getting an IT Cert to get a toe hold. Good luck. The faster you get out of there the faster you will recover and be on a much better flight path.

I love reading stories like this as I head into the office for no reason other than "RTO to work next to people who you dont actually work with" to go do the work of 3 people because some jackazz decided that role consolidation was a great way to increase his yearly compensation. I'm not sure whats worse at this point - being RA'ed with the sh!++y severance package they give us during a time when it's hard to find a job, or having to stay and pick up additional work from the people who WERE let go. I think I'd actually prefer the RA. At least I'd no longer have to answer to some bu++-licking azzwipe who thinks they're intelligent. Im not thinking of anyone in particular. IBM's executive management is loaded with them. Take your pick.
