To those who have been RIF'd, I'm sorry. I hope that you find something better.
Does anyone else experience the guilt when you are left when other are cut??

@OP don't feel guilty or sorry at all - once the initial RIF shock wears off, you realize that a weight has been lifted from your shoulders, and that things are much better on the outside. my only regret is that I didn't leave earlier.
Well no one in my group got laid off. So I feel bad. I would have hoped that there were layoffs and it would not be me. So now I feel that it raises the ante for next year. Twisted logic maybe.
Grow a pair you baby.
As I've been told after many past RIF's by management, "don't dwell on what just happened, focus on the future" Well FU management it still suxs for the poor souls let go.
@OP You didn't have to actually eat any of them (Donner Party), so I don't see why you would have any guilt.
@OP Been RIFd before and it su-ks. I do feel badly for those losing their jobs, hoping they can see soon that not too far down the road, they will be glad they moved on.
@a6 Wow. You know, it’s okay to keep certain thoughts to yourself.
I am sad anyone that is laid off. But that doesn't mean I miss having to work with all of them.
Yes absolutely and it's completely normal. I've been on both sides of a layoff and neither feels good. Just keep going, that's all you can do.
