Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Alright team – tiny poll, big decision πŸ˜…

Thinking about this whole Voluntary Separation thing… just curious how many of us are mentally halfway out the door vs clinging to our swivel chairs.

πŸ‘‰ If you’re like β€œYup, I’m ready to ghost this place (voluntarily of course),” hit πŸ‘.
πŸ‘‰ If you’re like β€œNah, I’m riding this corporate rollercoaster till the end,” hit πŸ‘Ž.

No judgment. Just vibes and data.

In the corporate world, everyone’s on their own, from the mailroom worker to the big shot with a private jet, chasing money with the cards they’ve got. Most people grind in jobs they don’t love just to pay for their real passions. Deep down, they’re all looking for something more meaningful than a paycheck.

I’m in a strange place. I have a manager I trust. I also am not far from retirement. I told them that I would walk away if it would save the job of a younger colleague with a mortgage and kids in school.
They are the only person who know.

So, yeah. I’d walk out into the bright Utah sun shine if the deal is right.

@OP Are there departments in Dell currently ofering Voluntary Separation? Or is it still just the normal rolling layofs of mostly people with 20+ years, or in their 60's? Still haven't seen anyone from India who moved to Austin getting laid off...

It’s the balance, getting something whilst maybe waiting for a tap on the shoulder to leave.

It’s been difficult for me around the Round Rock area, but I have something externally, but waiting to see if I will get the elbow from Dell to escape CSG.

Take it from someone who was thinking about it when the layoff got me - wait it out. The severance alone is worth it.

Worst case, search for a new job while staying employed at Dell. No reason to cut your paycheck out of hand.

Just quiet quit until you find something else, or until they push you out (with a fat check to soften the blow)
