Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Don’t blame lazy people

They didn’t do anything.

Not to scoff at the wonders of massive payroll deduction but the trouble with nuking the PowerPoint Desk Jockeys is that because they’re doing nothing removing them does nothing

RTO might help but that’s not free either I mean getting benefits from RTO is a deliberate thing not an automatic thing

Swinging an axe by itself actually only makes culture worse

If you’re one of the slackers obsessed please tell me why I’m wrong instead of just downvoting

Arani Sinha in CGU is a classic example, who has no execution background, can not solve any simulation or post silicon issues. He gives random advice, it is false one all the time. He was asked to lead the DFT team in DCAI, it made most working engineers to leave the company. Now, the management moved him to CGU, to make the attrition there..

My point is that attrition helps financially, but the poor management does not know the lost the talent, and left out with the same bullies behind..

When you have non technical, just finance focused, management leading you, you forget the future.

@ce it’s fine that you don’t like my logic just be sure you understand it.

Five people work on Tahoe Lake but two people just collect pay and contribute nothing. It gets trounced by AMD.

Two deadbeats get removed.

Three people work on Mono Lake. It gets ?????? by AMD. My argument is that it’s the same three people as before so a similar outcome.

However one at least of the other responders is claiming the three people are buoyed in morale by losing the deadbeats and make a better product

So there’s that

I was a SW/DBA IC, then a SW EM. then a PM. After 25 years I left. Good PM's have a good technical background that connect the dots. I see a lot of complaints about PP/Excel folks. yeah maybe to many. But if your running a product pxt its complicated due to Intel's matrix org. If your in your little SME role, your not seeing what it really takes to GTM.

OP... if they do nothing then they should be paid nothing. Keeping them costs the company money. Your logic is one of the reasons why Intel is in this situation.

I agree 100% with what @a4 and @a6 said, lazy people are a cancer to working groups and if not dealt with the cancer spreads. As cold and harsh as this sounds nothing is more satisfying than when you see someone that’s of no value added and really deserves to get laid off finally gets the axe. I believe it has the potential of being a moral booster to a group.

People want visibility and want to justify their existence. Those who can't do real work always find some other way. They create distraction, infighting, and drag good people down.

The problem is that these guys create extra meetings and waste time from who is trying to work…
