Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

30% is really 50%

EM announced a target of 30% India, 30% Spring, and 30% sites. Hidden in those numbers are at least 30% of the people at Spring will be from India and 30% of people at sites will be from India. So real target is 50% of all EM employees will be working for 1/8 normal salaries.

They want as many people on normal salaries to quit as possible, or exit via the NSI layoff scheme.

Announcing the % of normal salary employees that Need Significant Improvement prior to the start of assessment is actually just a layoff target without notifying the Texas Labor Board.

You guys are hilarious 😂. Please seethe and cope. No shower and can still get you guys laid off like a champ, how cool is that?

Go back to your work or Kumar will take it away from you. No, our bosses will take it to me.

@mx Setting everything else aside. what’s with the smell? This isn’t some cutting‑edge technology issue. Showers exist. Use them

Layoff in India is happening when AI is even cheaper than them, but bring jobs back shouldn't be in their near future calendar yet...

@mx

how is the indian stock market doing?

how are the largest indian companies doing?

answer - crashing and shrinking

your economic future is cooked. at my company we are already firing indians to replace them with ai. what you think of as stable IT jobs are now easy to automate and its cheaper to keep running than even an indian salary. hence the indian consulting company crash.

what will remain will a much smaller but better paid group. the middle and bottom gone forever. happy job hunting buddy, su-ks when it comes back around eh?

LOL we're the IT backbone of the world and the next super power. Youre so doomed, got no chance in competing with us, please do the needful and save your grammar corrections when you need to teach english to our kids. And save tongue to lick our kumar assess when we become your boss, ok?

@m6 Here, I fixed your sentence so it actually makes sense:
‘Hate all you want. Your higher‑ups still love us more than they love you.’
Amazing what BASIC grammar can do. Books — try reading one.

Feel free to hate, but just so you know your higher-ups love us more than you.

I am doing my job properly. My job is to correct everything we get from BTC before a Manager see it.

I am not allowed to track the volume of errors corrected.

@d9 - AI knowledge management can’t happen in India. They’re not the SMEs. You will need experienced people on the ground that know how a pump at a refinery or on a separator works. It’s happening at other companies. Will happen at XOM too

Saying AI will stop the offshoring is a trick. They will try to do the AI in India.

Outsourcing is so 2016. Can’t wait AI to bring these jobs back to electrons in this country instead of offshored locations

Hahaha it’s part of the deal people. I bet you can go anywhere in America to a big company same thing is happening. Especially if the work is electronic.

So given many indians in spring, and like 2 americans in btc, we will become an indian company. Wont end well but may take decades to decline.

@a5

Because we’re committing visa fraud. L1 is supposed to be for training future leaders, not filling entry level jobs at a quarter of the cost of an American graduate.

How are they able to bring in so many expats when there is an available workforce?

I was recently at EMHC and MCO offices in Spring and Midland. Both are full of Indians on expat assignments and business trips. Was glad to get back to Canada where we have some laws that will hopefully reduce this. The hotel I was at by EMHC in Spring even had some Indian type vegetarian food next to the oatmeal indicating to me just how often they are having Indian guests.
