Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Contractors getting better treatment than the rest of us.

I work with contractors in engineering. Only one that I know of was told he is leaving because his time was almost up anyway. All the others were told they are staying. They are a different animal it seems while the rest of us are thrown to the wolves.

@a9 I’m a contractor and I make over twice that. I’m a W-2 employee of a staffing agency so I have some benefits, but they’re not great. I also make overtime. The lack of stability blows, but we live in a capitalist hellscape so FTEs don’t have stability anymore, either. It all su-ks.

@a5 Really?? They make $35 to $40 an hour with no vacation and sick days and no benefits. Do you honestly think their day is coming?

I call BS. Most of the contractors I know have been with the company a long time and know their stuff. Have fun getting stuff done without them.

I think the company is more inclined to keep the contractors and get rid of full-time employees. Verizon does not have to pay for their benefits, etc..
