Being out of work can seem like a breather at first, but the stress creeps in fast. The bills, the silence, the self-doubt, it all adds up. While you're still employed, don’t just ride it out. Use the time to plan your next move while you still have a steady paycheck. It’s a lot harder once your options shrink.

Down voters on this thread are wild. HR corporate shills?
Planning the next step is more than just finding a better job. It's also eliminating unnecessary expenses, building up an emergency fund (I would go for at least a year of reserve), etc. If you have a mortgage, consider refinancing if it lowers the required monthly. You can continue paying what you pay now (so the clock doesn't reset to 30 years), but if you ever get laid off the required monthly will be lower.
@cc More, if you are older.
Get out now better to have a job before you are layed off. Lonely looking for a new one, mortgage payments and then financial distress and then divorce as your spouse looks at better options.
Really good advice it’s a tough job market, unless you are lucky or an AI genius it’s at least 6 months if not more.
Network up with fab suppliers and support companies. Get names, email, and contact numbers.
Who you know may get you an interview.
Many MTs and gone to being FSEs. Although on the road a lot and living out of a suitcase.
Know your toolsets up and down. Maybe you will get a local service position.
Lead FSEs make boo coo but a Hi-Ons to work with.
@a5 if you are eligible to be rehired than you can apply for the open jobs at Intel.
@a5 Any hiring Intel does (which Lip Bu said he would do to replace critical talent) should be external only. A major part of Intel's problem is the culture which is very hard to change with people who have been here for a long time. New blood is needed across the board not just in the executive office.
I am officially out of work...but I also have been actively applying both internally and externally..There are a lot of internal job reqs..who is this targeted to? Can laid off employees apply to them while they are still employees, till the 31st?
