Thread regarding Edward Jones layoffs

No Promotions in 2026

Just got word from a friend who is a manager that only 0.25% (1 in 400) employees will have the opportunity to receive a promotion in 2026. This is supposed to be very hush hush and hid from employees. If offered a promotion, you will get 4-7% of a bump in pay.

This might have already been said before, but I couldn't believe it. If I get exceeds every trimester, I will still not get a promotion is what this manager said. It might have to get approval at GP level.

I might have been naive with everything. Time to start looking at other jobs.

How do they intend to retain talent if there is no upward mobility? May be that’s how Susan Mac thinks of workforce of the future.

@cs Senior leaders no longer view associates as humans, only commodities to be used and discarded. Adjust your expectations accordingly.

@ I agree - that is terrible! 10 years of service rrying your hardest to keep the office viable and insure client confidence and then to be thrown away like a piece of trash (no offense - just no other way to describe it).

HR is unbelieveable. Very cold statement to make to someone when justifying the reason for their layoff.

Sign of the times with Edward Jones.

@ja That is awful. I'm sure the new FA just wants the younger chick as someone to look at and not have to pay as much (shocker). What will end up happening is she will sc--w up things left and right, client's will get mad and bail out, then that FA will either jump ship too or get canned if he bleeds too many assets. Again, decisions here are not made logically or based on big picture long term goals. We keep finding ways to push out our best talent for a short term "sugar high" that will cause a crash sooner rather than later.

@hm I got a promotion after being in a branch with lots of FA turnover. Waited years for it because I believed in EJ and was loyal. Finally got a promotion to Sr BOA and now laid off because my branch is merging with another branch and my FA did not stick up for me and take me with him after he promised to do so. They hired BOA thats 22......no experience and this is her 1st job. I was with the company for 10 years and was the only consistent body in the old office of which many clients noted. The turnover really bothered them but I was able to smooth things over and keep them in the branch. Did it matter? Did I or my contributions and help in gathering assets matter? No.

I was told by HR that the lead FA (in the newly merged office) could have whoever he wanted for a BOA. And if he didn't want me, then too bad so sad.

So much for loyalty. I will never make that mistake again!

@ew what IAP is rolling out? Investment advisory platform is the only time in my life I’ve heard IAP? Are they changing that too? I hate to admit this but I refuse to read Amplify because well everything they say IMHO is a lie. So why spike my blood pressure! From the field the MG and SForce rollout was a joke. Complete disaster, so good Lord if we got another one coming.

I'm a lucky one who got a promotion this year. The process was insane and lengthy, however, it was very undeniable that a promotion was due for me given the level of work, process improvements, and department changes I contributed to. You also need to have leaders all the way to your GP who will go to bat to get you a promotion. That's what it took for me..otherwise it wouldn't of happened.

Truly unbelievable how this firm has tanked morale in such a short amount of time. It needs to be studied, but unfortunately it won't/can't be.

Hey field FAs, I know some of you all love what's going on to stick it to us who wfh or just to torture HQ employees (you know who you are). I'll just say this, wait until the mass roll out of IAP. It's gonna be a mess for you. Think MG and SF transition all over again.

Why?? Why does this place keep doing everything it can do to chase out the good, loyal, smart people to our competition and double down on policy that has never worked long term in the history of business? Are they really this stupid and arrogant at the top, or is this just evidence of a more sinister & malicious long term plan to gut the company? Make it make sense.

The red tape to give a junior person a promotion is also very challenging.

Does ELT get their ideas by watching Joe Fenti skits?

I swear everything they are doing or planning he has covered!

They shared the screen with the amplify article for this news of 0.25%. It is legit and all managers are aware via amplify (the managers amplify).

Then they clicked into it and there was the 4%-7% pay raises for those promotions.

This is sadly not rumor.

@a4 , the 4 day work week was discussed in Amplify in March 2025 in small print.

@a6 , I'm working on my professional path away from the firm. Just spoke to a recruiter today that reached out to me with 6 openings with their firm.

All about networking. It's not what you know but who you know.

@OP I left the firm because they kept dangling the promotion golden carrot in front of me for years, even with me getting Exceeds Expectations every trimester and annual review.

If you’re seeking a promotion, don’t waste your time here.

It just keeps getting worse. Take everything on this site with a grain of salt but its shocking how many of these rumors come true even months later. I first saw the 4 day work week and even the RTO for HBAs be discussed since August/September last year. This is yet another I will be unsurprised if legitimate.

I spoke with an FA not long ago and he told me EVERY job now (for branches) has to be approved not only by the Regional leader but now also the Area leader. Beaucracy stacked ontop of and mired in beaucracy makes for an inefficient workplace.
