Thread regarding Occidental Petroleum Corp. layoffs

Anyone not taking VSP fear an involuntary severance?

Just wondering if those who are declining the VSP they are eligible for have a concern about being laid off involuntarily with less benefits.

@a4 if you don’t think people over 60 will be targeted, you’ve been living under a rock. Reports are ran to see everyone’s age and years of service and the older ones are definitely targeted first.

@c3 Thank you Dr. Wierdo for that addition to the conversation. I really learned a lot. Please share more after you sober up.

Live in Texas and drink alcohol instead of smoking weed and your longevity will be greatly reduced. Living in Texas ki-ls. You will be dead by age 80 so 60 is getting quite old. Retire now under the VSP and leave this sc-m su-king state.

If you are over 65 and you dont take it you should be committed to a mental hospital. Will retirement insurance or Medicare pay for this?

That is a chance one would take, but those not taking the VSP will not be targeted for layoffs just because of age. There are many 60 and over that have their reasons for wanting to keep working and age should not be a reason to layoff anyone as long as they are producing. I know many managers that wish their 60 and over team members were staying and not taking the VSP. Most are really good performers and have in-depth experience in their jobs. Age 60 is not very old these days, and many that age and older have more years to work in them.
