Thread regarding Paramount Global layoffs

I just received a job offer to work at Paramount. What are your thoughts on joining right now?

Title says it all. I just received a job offer to work at Paramount. I’m currently employed, but I am looking for something new. I told the hiring manager I needed the weekend to think about it. Should I take the job?

@OP Now is a really tricky time to ask that question. We are a month out from a very aggressive and ill thought out RTO mandate, and are about three weeks away from yet another mass layoff (third in a year) where it is predicted that up to 3000 people could lose their job. Our new leadership has only been in place since August and no one really has much of an idea of how they will guide the company, other than having very lofty goals. So, approach with caution.

If it’s in LA then go for it. Most other offices will eventually go away or be reduced significantly

I so want my boss to get sacked. She’s so incompetent. I think she is sleeping with the higher ups which is why she is always spared. I hope Karma bites her in the a-s.

Great place to work and great place to learn but it's a bumpy time. So just know that. I'd like to think that they would not be hiring you if they thought there was a risk of being laid off in 3 weeks. Ask if your start date can be 11/3 or 11/10 (even better) and you should be ok re: layoffs.

I’ve had the best time of my life working at Paramount. Sure, right now, it’s unstable but it’s still a great company to work for. I believe we are now headed in the right direction under DE’s fearless leadership and if I get laid off in November then I will happily die for his cause.

Run away as fast as you can. You don’t want to be part of this sinking ship. Wherever you are now is more stable then Paramount

@ag it’s the same bootlicking, pearl clutching pest that has infested this forum non stop. It’s like the same cancer plaguing the US right now. It’s harder to get rid of than gonorrhea (not that I’d know anything about that, but I’ve heard and read stories 😀).

@a4 How much did David Ellison pay you bootlicker

If the money is good and if the title, pay and the opportunity is good then I say take it but just know there’s a lot of turbulence right now so don’t get comfy just yet. there could be a lot of change and chaos within your department and if you’re in a team like mine, your management will also be trying to figure out all the change they’re dealing with and they may not have the capacity to be a true leader so you may be flying blind or running into a lot of corporate landmines. if you don’t mind the constant whiplash then take it!

There's uncertainty here. It's been like that since I joined a few years back. The CEO that took over is not transparent with his intention. Everything he has said has turned out to be false. For example he said RTO would NOT be a one size fits all, yet everyone eventually will be mandated to return to office 5 days a week. If you live within commuting distance then that's a non-issue. There will be layoffs of 3K+ on 10/28/2025. There are rumors, most probably accurate that we're not done. More layoffs in March 2026. Everyone's situation is unique. If you're young professional career wise and don't haver a family that depends on you, then you can probably acquire some decent experience here. Benefits right now are OK (unlimited PTO), but new CEO might do away with that. They're all about cost cutting and lots and lots of org restructuring is in the cards. If you can deal with a roller coaster right for the foreseeable future, then you might be OK here.

It’s a good company to work for. Plus good benefits. Best of luck to you

if it's a new hire - it's been greenlit but i would also ask what division - at least in general
people could give some advice - my team is rehiring two opt in roles

@a4 as if we all are going to be here for that, esp with a potential merger on the horizon with guaranteed layoffs.

@a5 ok. i would probably suggest that it's ruder to go on a site about layoffs to ask about employment opportunities instead of, i don't know, glassdoor, which is specifically dedicated to employer reviews. but you know best!

@a2 They have a valid question. Don’t get rude with them because they want answers.

I have one question.

In a few years when DE makes this the greatest studio in the entire world, do you want to be a part of that?

I wouldn't take a job here - there's a LOT of change to come and no guarantee of any kind of job stability.
