Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

How best to apply for promotion in Shell Bangalore based position?

Hello. This is GP. I work in the Bangalore office (SBO)

Lots of hiring right now in my group and adjacent teams. Skip said about 900 more hires expected in IDT in next 6 months. But with too many people comes many problems. How to identify promotion opportunities in such active hiring environment?

nobody is sending work to india for the brightest minds. it’s because its the cheapest labor. companies are already moving from places like bangalore to places like pune to reduce cost

eventually they will move their labor pool to the philippines and ukraine and vietnam to do the same thing. how do i know? because they has happened multiple times. customer support. HR. manufacturing. many many times. it would be wise for you to understand that global wage and skill competition doesn’t end with india undercutting the USA. India is just one stop on the train to lowest bidder.

🚂 china -> india ( you are now here ) -> east europe -> philippines

also - i am familiar with the sanitation, traffic, and treatment of women in india. you should be banned for even trying to brag about it. i am also familiar with the caste system and preferential hiring based on skin lightness and nationality prevalent in india. lawsuits regarding this at shell have happened and been documented on fish bowl. this is so common that some companies censor last names so that their caste is not as easy to decipher.

those with glass houses should not throw stones.

Your post reeks of zenophobia. India is an up and coming super power. It is the brightest mind in Asia. Did you know between 2002 and 2024, 45 cent more women were educated in India than anywhere else in the world. I ask you to kindly show me any other country that has made this much progress in gender uplifting as India has in the shortest amount of time. It is now the time for the Indian century.

Nothing says optimization quite like cutting costs for unskilled labor which needs 10% raises every year and has to redo all do the work multiple times

Hello. It is important to remember that outsourcing should be thought of as optimization of services. If you see outsourcing from this perspective then you can see it's many many benefits. Anyways Bangalore is full of people, so plenty opportunity for jobs. But need to identity right opportunity. Hence my question.
