Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

DefMet vs DefRed

Just to be pedantic

DefMet’s task if purely measurement (defect metrology) knowing where, what type, how many, and what severity (ki-ler vs non impacting) the defects are. Purely the eyes. DefMet doesn’t improve yields or get processes production ready.

DefRed (defect reduction) on the other hand takes those measurements and is supposed to get them improved and transfer ready.

Now I suppose if DefMet has problems it could influence ramp. It is hard to drive with your eyes closed or while you’re hallucinating

The semantics are such a waste. The issue at Intel is you don't care to measure what matters and so you are running blind in so many critical places and have not spent the time or engineering to match your competitors capabilities. You can't reduce what you don't measure or can't see. And your SPC rules prevent anyone from developing good detectability to avoid work. lazy POS...

Isn’t this about the guy who claims to be making a lot of money on previous posts? I am so lost on what’s going on here. IRL I heard of some potential coverups and weird things going on within the team that get ignored.

Oh, we’re gonna act like we know how to run modern fab process now and discuss it right here on the layoff board? To fu-k’n late. Not to mention that even if we had a clue how to run a fab the rest of our company is also a sh-t show.

@a4 it would be if most of DefMet wasn’t filled with mo--ns who just wanted to escape the in-person fab life. Most are totally brain dead and make incorrect conclusions frequently and bog down the efforts of process development

I don't believe OP understands this is not a DefMet site.

Defmet finds and classifies defects and process and equipment engineering use the data collected to find and resolve issues. It’s actually a pretty efficient process.
