Thread regarding Synopsys Inc. layoffs

Estimate the time for the next cut

Recently, I interviewed with a company and reached the final round. They asked when I could start the job; they seem quite flexible. My strategy is to ideally be laid off in the next round and then join this company to maximize my gains. Does anyone know when the next round of layoffs will be? Thank you very much. @1az just take the new job and close the snps chapter of your life. Don’t risk being fired for “cause”. That will follow you for the rest of your career.

Just start the new job and put minimal effort in for SNPS. Collect both salaries until they lay you off or fire you. You can drag that out for a couple of months easily.

@aa Thanks for the great advice! I've heard rumors that the next round might be in May or June. Since that's only a month or two away if true, I'm thinking of taking a chance and setting the start date for late July. That's why I posted here to validate the dates. But you're right—they might retract the offer, and I'd end up with nothing.

You may want to be sooner about a potential start date, as they might think you are waiting for a better offer. Also, they can rescind their offer if another desired candidate becomes available, or if their company has a sudden hiring freeze

@a3 That’s a spot-on summary. I’ve been quietly interviewing as well, and I know at least five or six of my colleagues are doing the same.
