Optimum is drowning in debt and in real trouble. This way they get to perform layoffs without the negative attention that would affect their stock price. But what is Mastec really gaining here? A new market and the costs of employees, benefits, and a aging fleet. If Optimum is making it financially favorable for them, then Optimum is losing more money. If Mastec is taking a paycut, why the heck would they agree to it?

Sorry Guys. Now that Mastec has purchased Optimun field services it will be bad. Layoffs, AT&T has been management. They bought out Byers and it went down drastically. They will rob you of your hours and forget mileage if you are payed for that now it will be watched and cut. Please find a small company that appreciates your talents, because its not Mastec. Good Luck

@fh that’s a formality. Nothing more. With most offers if you decline, you stay where you are.

This offer you decide whether you still want a job or not. You will not get to continue to work for Optimum unless you switch to a position that is for them. That’s already been shown in the FAQ, it’s bye bye if you decline.

@fj yes, if you agree to the terms of your new employer, I'm betting not much in terms of job duties will change, just who manages you ( which very well could be who does now) and who signs your check. I bet you will still have the same work vehicle and depot. Benefits will change as well. It's all a big scam

@a4 Have till Jan 3rd to accept the offer (greater than 2 weeks) and the changes don’t fully finalize till February.

Per the meetings, 100% of techs will get offers. Sup and above will be hit or miss. 98.5% will get an offer.

Unions aren’t affected. For now of course.

Right off the bat, you lose complimentary services, since we will no longer work for Optimum.

We also lose MLK and Black Friday as MasTec does not observe those.

You’re the reason they did this !!!! If you think they care they don’t . We will be the biggest company with no employees .

@OP this definitely came as a surprise. Even though the writing was on the wall a year ago. I can say optimistically say - short term it stings because it’s a big change. But long term the workforce will be much better off. With a stronger more diverse future. This isn’t an optimum thing. It’s an industry thing. Mastec will become the technical workforce for all MSOs sooner than you think. A standardized workforce not owned by the MSOs but to support the MSOs; In our Industry it’s innovate or die. This may work, pay attention.

I understand there is a lot of anger towards the decision today. It su-ks! However not sure why there is negetivity towards past managers. They did not have a hand in it.Put you anger towards the current management.

@a7 Wish that were true, over 20 years here and that is NOT an option so I'm not quite sure who told you that little white lie. Proceed with caution!

@a6 qc and compliance as it always had been. Field service is one of the easiest positions to contract out, you install and troubleshoot equipment.

I was told i don’t have to switch over if i don’t want to because of my time in the company and management does not want me to lose everything i have worked for. Good luck to the rest of you.

Not sure how you run field service without company employees looking out for the company interests.Someone should right a book how to ruin a company the Altice way.All the best to you all.

And all right before the Holidays, and 1 week notice. This is the stigma about 2 week notices that proves it’s clearly a double standard.

Should have taken the package when it was offered! Now you get nothing! Some will be fortunate to stay, others not so much!
