Verizon will lay off 165 employees in January 2026 including 14 people in Skagit and Whatcom counties.
The telecommunications giant filed the layoff notice to the worker adjustment and retraining notification database, part of the Washington state Employment Security Department.
In the layoff notice, Verizon wrote it was undergoing a restructuring “to maximize the utilization of company facilities and resources.”

@a3 Verizon is a business. It's not their job to worry about "people's mental health". It's their job to make a profit for the execs to get rich and the key shareholders to get rich.
Life isn't fair - nobody said it was - so we shouldn't expect it to be.

Those are off book dates of people already notified.
The 165 are all WA state employees. They have a longer WARN notice, they are off payroll 1/23/26.

It is clear that Verizon is blind or ignoring the mental toll they are inflicting on us. While it may not be criminal, it’s cruel. Why spread this out?
