Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

ISG is in Freefall

Sad to see some really strong technical folks pushed out over the years and now it’s starting to show with those remaining burned out juggling the additional responsibilities. A week of meetings and nothing to show but follow up meetings.. Demoralising watching some really good people no longer speaking up on calls anymore as they are fed up an burned out.
Top table need to take responsibility for their actions. JC and AL need to go. Time for fresh visionary leadership and direction with a major clear out overdue.

@107 Funny thing is EMC was a far more successful company than Dell and all the Dell homers instantly assume everything EMC did is wrong. When customers called EMC support they got an expert, when they call Dell support they get whoever is available. Could be an expert, could be someone that doesn't know the difference between a million dollar storage array and a TI graphing calculator. Customers aren't stupid and have figured out Dell gives very subpar support. Customers that used to come to EMC practically begging us to thje their money are now fleeing to the competition. Even dell's sh---y AI should be able to figure it out, but our upper management can't.

Problem was that there were some very good people in bloated departments, redundant roles, duplicated responsibilities. This was a legacy of what was inherited from the EMC acquisition, and the deference shown to the storage folks over the legacy Dell teams.

Now that the company is simplifying the model, reducing headcount by reducing the overlays and duplication, good people are inevitably lost.

@a3 adding that they deserved it, since they are to blame for the sinking ship.

The problem is that our captains are the type that will throw everyone overboard so that they can have the lifeboats to themselves when the ship goes down.
