@ev Give no details. You aren’t required to by any corporate or legal restrictions. At least not in the US. .
There’s some bosses who will wish you well, others will try to mess it up by immediately terminating you or some other petty act.

If you get a counter-offer ignore it. Two reasons - why didn’t they pay you that before and they will be looking to replace you at their earliest opportunity.

@bm

I think it may help to phrase it as:

"I have two opportunities lined up, but I’d prefer to keep the details under wraps until everything is finalized."

You are under no obligation to tell them where you are going..

@b5 I guarentee you they didn't because there's no legal requirement for them to do so for at-will employees.

When they escort you out, act like you own this place and you got bodyguards.

Go ahead and put in your notice and tell them, if asked, you have two offers on the table and since you haven't accepted one you're reluctant to disclose either company. They'll walk you out the same day but you'll be paid for the two weeks. Meanwhile, no one knows where you're going so there will be no one trying to talk to someone about you at your new company. After you're gone two weeks nobody will remember you so they won't be curious where you went.

Wise words ok Kenny Rogers. You got to know when to hold them and know when to show them.

@ag Exactly this. Friend of mine w went into tbe bosses office a few years ago to give hus two weeks notice. He made the mistake of mentioning he had got a job with a competitor. By the time he got back to his desk he was completely locked out of everything, a few minutes after that security was watching him gather his personal belongings and escorting him out of tbe buildings. He had planned on working his last two weeks, but got a 2 week unpaid vacation instead.

Don’t tell them where you are going. You are under no obligation to reveal your new employer to a current one.

As soon as you tell Dell you are going to a competitor, you will be shown the door ASAP.
