Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Jim Farley Rumor

There is a bit of chatter internally at the LL4 plus level around Jim not getting a contract renewal and that his retirement is imminent.

They are stress testing another executive I won’t name by giving them multiple departments to manage. Most are aware of who this likely replacement is, and likely welcoming it.

Don’t hear ANYONE who rates JF which is a shame as we had high hopes when he was appointed. DF is the master of disaster (FNV4) and truly have no idea how he is still in position.
Atmosphere is pretty toxic tbh….general management attitude is summarised by “the beatings will continue until morale improves”. There’s a lot of nice words about being a family, inclusion, “people are our greatest asset” etc but the actions are totally opposite. Such a shame as there are a lot of hardworking and talented who are being demoralized and demotivated by the cr@p being spouted from the top.
Bring back Mr Mulally, please!!!

@aj it addresses it by hopefully improving morale. JF is a narcissist who hates his workforce. I believe AF cares about people and will not surround himself with tech company dropout yes men. The culture needs to improve before products can. Morale is rock bottom.

Her contract is up spring of 28. Need new CEO in place about one year before this … cannot have old ceo negotiating a contract the new CEO will be working with.

We just need to stop with promoting MS&S up to sr leadership. They just don't have what it takes. Remember, they are sales people. They can slick talk themselves into the job but always fall on their faces in the execution.

While AF is certainly more likable than the current occupant of the seat, how does this fix the real issues of the company? Marketing & Sales folks are not known for their product or engineering acumen. Great at sizzle, not so much at the nuts and bolts of running a manufacturing company. All the other glaring issues with JF aside this is a big one, and what the investment community will be watching. AF is a nice person, but other than that affable Jimmy Stewart schtick he’s got going, what has he actually accomplished other than managing to avoid any major political pitfalls on his magic carpet ride through the friends and family fraternity running the company. Again not a bad guy. But how does this address product or quality? Same movie, just a nicer lead actor.

The layoffs will probably be done before Farley's contract renewal, letting him take the fall before he leaves

@a6 Who is CG?

DF is a complete and utter failure - just like FNV4

DF is the only choice worth considering, be it internal and against any external candidates.

Experience and achievements mean something.

I think JF is guilty is not managing his direct reports, but he is the CEO.
I Doug Fu-kWit or Jim BaumDick get the CEO role wozswers FMC is sc--wed.

Succession plans are completely missing. CG can't escape. DF? Rumor was JF had a two year contract extension last year.

If DF gets the position then he must have blackmail on higher ups. He’s not qualified after loosing over 10+ billions. DF is Elon Musk’s plant to bankrupt Ford.

@a3 remember, they made it mandatory for succession plans now when hiring at LL3 plus.

Farley is 63 and he is has been CEO for about 5 years, so he is nearing the end. I don't think it is surprising if they are working on a succession plan.
