@a5 They find out the afternoon before and usually don’t have any input. It’s already decided. Not even allowed to ask questions or share input.
@ar What part of Optum Health?
I got an invite for Optum Helath in the morning.
@a2 15 years. I’m so sorry.
Which dept got emails?
Just got a meeting invite from my manager for tomorrow. Looks like I’ll be getting chopped good luck everyone.
The meeting could also be everyone in the region. The email invite will go out tonight or tomorrow morning. I feel sorry for you as Optum likes to acquire businesses and then lay off their people.
@a2 I was RIFd in 2024 and rehired, when I was rehired for a different position that manager apologized and was told they have to read from that script and that script only for legal purposes
@OP I'll concur with what's been said, you'll either get a short early call, or a later call with the survivors. In my case my manger didn't now much before I did, he didn't make the call, it was from above. He's a great guy, and was so distraught I had to ask him if he was going to be okay. I was only mildly shocked, I figured I make it into 2026, but not out. Timing was earlier than expected. Glad I was cut loose sooner rather than later.
@OP You will probably see one of two meetings scheduled on Teams -- a one-on-one with your manager OR a meeting with your entire team.
I received a meeting request from my manager on Friday morning (Jan. 23) a half hour before we met. Subject: Team changes
When I realized my colleagues weren't on Teams with me, I knew. Ugh. Punch to the gut after 15+ years.
No emotion from my manager at all. He offered a simple hello and then spent 10 minutes reading HR cr-p from his computer. At the end: No good luck. No goodbye. I was disgusted, so I hung up.
